Don't know if this is Diaspora related or FSO related but when I have FXAA enabled I'm getting a weird blurring/trail coming from ships & backgrounds. Doesn't cause a crash but obviously ruins the effect. Issue disappears when FXAA is deselected in the launcher. I've attached a screenshot taken using fraps. Oddly, when using the debug build, I don't have the same issue whether it is selected or not. Admittedly I do have an ATI card, but the first post in this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=76145.0) thread states it should work with both Nvidia & ATI. Any thoughts?

Don't think that's us, but Swifty or someone else code-literate could tell you more. Checking you have the latest graphics drivers would be a good first step, though - if you haven't already.

Outputing a debug log (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359) would be a good second step, if not first.

Was running the 12.6 Catalyst drivers. Just upgraded them to 12.8 but no joy.
As I said above, the issue doesnt show up when using a debug build, only the standard one.
Edit: Just ran through another play through of same mission that the screenshot was taken but using a debug build. Issue didnt crop up but i've attached the debug log in case it shows up anything.

It's not because it doesn't happen with a debug build, that a debug log wouldn't give us some useful info.
Also, can you try launching retail with the diaspora exe and see if it happens there too ?

Just tried it with retail FS2 assests using the Diaspora build. Doing the same thing. Also showing up with debug build. Screenshot and log attached.

Ive got this same thing, but way more frequent ghosts in the trails. ATI 6970/Phenom II 955, latest drivers

i would use driver sweeper to completely uninstall drivers when reinstalling not sure if you have done that
steps
1) uninstall drivers
2)reboot in safe mode
3) run driver sweeper and delete the ati driver entries regirsty entries and folders
4)reboot
5) install drivers
