Re: A celebration of Freespace
I think the nebula one was a bad picture. The overwhelmingly bright colors ruined it.
And the Collie with all that green turned it from a good green glow picture, to a horrible Paint job..

The psamptic glows way too much form that beam. Vasudans arnt bright yellow.

The last two or three are fine. The last one is great. (Yes i overlapped)

Re: A celebration of Freespace
beams put out a lot of ambient light. They're going to light up the night when they fire.
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I seriously doubt I'll actually finish this but whatever.
Loosely based off of one of the 'post-Capella campaign ideas' (just like how ToD was)...but heavily adapted.

When the Great Destroyers came for us again, we weren't ready the civil war had only ended months earlier. They brought with them another Lucifer, and they finished the job they started thirty years ago. We could do nothing but watch as they rained fire on our planet, something we had had done to those of our own species only months earlier. We could do nothing but run...

...and so we hurled ourselves into the void of space, not out of fear, but out of determination. We carve a path through the stars in search a new home. We leave behind this message for if anyone ever returns to this place in search of us, to tell that though we fled, we will fight, we will adapt, and we will survive. We leave you this message to tell you that we are still alive; to tell you that if you if you seek the truth behind the Great Destroyers, that we have answers; and to tell you that we are waiting.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I recognise a ship from BP.

And most of the ships look as though they're from INFR1.

This sounds like a good inspiration to a new campaign . . . BTW, what are your light settings?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
My light settings? They're pretty messed up (I had really funky spec values that made normal maps way too exagerrated, and ruins the antialiasing, as you can see on the bottom central GTE Vidar).
I even changed them already to something else since that screenshot (using HT's now)

possible new campaign?
That's the plan...for now...

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Galemp and I managed to complete a Silent Threat mission on multiplayer an hour ago, and this is the debrief we got:

The both of us were surprised and amused by the first paragraph. Galemp had never heard it being uttered before, and while I knew such a line existed because I opened the FSPort VP files, I didn't expect :v: to actually use it in the game.

Here are some rather terrible shots I took while playing ST:R just now. These are the better ones, I think, which isn't saying much.

Hey, INFR1 is a lot of fun.  Remember how excited everybody was when it came out?

Some of the first half is kinda meh, but the second half is awesome.  Especially the penultimate mission.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Sure it was fun, just kinda... Random for someone to post screenies of it like that. :wtf:

It's like walking onto the tube and, mid-journey, screaming, "Pi is 3.14159265358978323846264338327950288419716939937510..." (I have got to do that sometime)

Have you seen this?

No. I wasn't there to witness it.

Some of the first half is kinda meh...

It's meh because the GTCa Independence thinks it can take on FOUR WARSHIPS AND A GODDAMN INSTALLATION BY ITSELF WITH NO FIGHTER SUPPORT.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Actually, I've had the Independence get killed by Headquarters because I was too busy getting knocked around by kinetic weapons to actually hit anything.

Though I do dislike how it rips through a Tereus in less time it takes for a Sath to rip through the Phoenicia. (Well, okay, the same amount of time...virtually none at all)

To be fair, there were bombers attacking the installation's weapon systems ... and many of the warships were unfortunate enough to be in front of the Independence :P

Those defensive turrets are really, really annoying. Pretty funny to see a enemy Stentor get knocked to its death but when the turrets are against you - stay away from them - if you can.
