Please welcome karajorma and Tolwyn as our newest admins! Karajorma is pretty much a de facto admin around here anyway, but now it's official. :) And Tolwyn brings his vast experience as manager of the Wing Commander Saga forum, website, and development team to give a real boost to the HLP administration.
We're also experimenting with bringing on new staff, since a lot of the veteran admins are feeling the strains of burnout, and we don't want that to happen. Plus, some fresh minds will be able to inject new energy into the site and help it continue to thrive. CP5670, Flipside, Unknown Target, and Black Wolf have all agreed to be supermoderators. They'll help keep things down to a dull roar around here, and they'll also help spread out the responsibility so that it doesn't all fall on one or two people.
We may also promote a few well-deserving forumites to "standard" moderator in the near future. Stay tuned!

That's one of the main reasons I accepted. I kept having people asking to do admin stuff where it was about as much trouble to tell them I was only a supermod as it would have been to actually fix it. :D

As long as it doesn't become Red Light Productions, else we'll have to age-check everyone :nervous:, and it would look at lot odder on your resume if you modelled for a campaign.
Actually, I'd say the coders are taking over, and that's not such a bad thing from my point of view, what brings this place together is FS2, what keeps us together is the community and the Future as promised by the SCP.

BTW, I've updated the first post. Tolwyn is one of the names that also got floated as an administrator candidate, but we never got around to actually asking him. Now we have, and he ought to give a significant boost to the HLP administration and site management. :)

I didn't "forget"; that's a SMF feature. I think it only happens in forums where you are actually assigned as a moderator.

A super-moderator has powers...basically everywhere.

Is it going to happen again? Woo is away(probably because of his upcoming birthday...he must be having "infernal parties" :lol: )and I will attach several Mobius-style-uber-missions to my posts in pur private forum. I just want to know if more attachments will be deleted in the following days. That is all.

I should't think so - don't quote me on it as I didn't do it the first time but it was only done because some limit or another was reached. It's not the sort of thing that would be made a habbit of - but just to be sure I'd make sure you keep valuable stuff on your hard drives just incase rather than using this place as a file host...

Contrary to what i posted about a few months back, i think it's nice that only admins get avatars. That way it makes it more rewarding if you ever do get one or if you get a badge or title. I like the layout of HLP more now.
Kalfireth seems a little naked without his avatar...and i don't meen that in any gross sense.

And it was done the wrong way. I took a look at the control panel and figured out the right way to do it (coincidentally, ten minutes before Fury posted the link in the admin forum) so it won't happen that way in the future. The control panel has a feature that allows us to delete all attachments older than a certain number of days (25 by default), so it's handled automatically.

No...Global Moderators are "almost admins". Normal moderators are closer to the membership, and are busy with their own projects.

To be honest, I'm happy without an Avatar, I'd rather think of myself as a 'normal user with moderating priveleges' than as an 'Almost Administrator', it sort of gives a little more leeway when dealing with problems :)

I think that admins should have avatars, so that they are easily distinguishable, but mods and super-mods should not.
My new VP gave a good point when she introduced herself to the class: "I'm the new VP, I'm telling you this so that you don't think I'm a nobody and tell me to f***-off." This way people know that they are admins, and easily.
