I'm having trouble installing the Freespace 1 music. I've downloaded the warble_fs1.vp and fsport_music.vp.

I tried extracting the files from warble_fs1.vp to FS2\data\music
and the files from fsport_music.vp to FS2\data\tables. But everytime I try to start the game, it just crashes.

So am I doing something wrong?

Hm... *Thinks so hard you can hear the crackling across the oceans* Doesn't VP/TBLView say something about FS1's tbls being encrypted or something? That would easily explain the crashing. Um, you did place the files where they should be, right? Not tbls in music and wavs in tables? Not that it would cause a crash, but... you know.

... Wait, no, I didn't piece your post together properly... Can you supply me/the others with a sort of step-by-step-thing of what you did with the VPs? Like...
1. Opened them with VPView.
2. Extracted .wavs to , etc.

I found out that if I delete music.tbl, the game starts, but I hear FS2 music in FS1 campaign.

You'll need to modify the FSPORT missions so they reference the new (old?) music tracks. I think someone's already done this...

You can't use retail FS2 - it will always crash.  You MUST use fs2_open version 3.5.5 or better.  This is explained in the readme.

And you don't need to extract anything from the VPs.  Just plop them in your Freespace directory.
