Back to the game, again!
Hi everyone,
My name is Pelegrin and i used to play FS and FS2 for a very long time and also i had a squad created the legendary Birds of Prey (BoP).
I am getting back to the game now and i hope i get it right so i can login on the Multiplayer.
Since i am a noob on the FSO,  i dont know where i need to register and all, i will come back to ask questions after i have finish dowloading the MVP file a whooping 565MB download.
See you all soon.

Re: Back to the game, again!
Hi there. The multiplayer setup instructions can be found here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=63609.0

Be sure to follow them to the letter. If there are problems, or if you want to see if there's a game on, join the Hard-Light IRC channel. Link is in my sig.

Re: Back to the game, again!
Just tested it, and it works fine for me. Could there be a spam filter blocking the mail somewhere?

Re: Back to the game, again!
Nope, it say's that ''is not a valid e-mail address. Please check that is was entered correctly.
Doh!
And i use my main email addy?
I have finish all the dowloads and also the missions and the voices.
Missions and voices i just drop them on the FS2 folder, dont know if i should have made a folder for them.
Anyway the registration is my main prob now.

I don't know what process the site uses to validate your emailaddress. It will be looked into.

Re: Back to the game, again!
I have moved to Cyprus now and here they mostly use these  kind of email addys, ([email protected]) for example.
Could it be the ''.com.cy'' thing that it finds as abnormal?

Re: Back to the game, again!
Possibly. Seeing as .cy hosts quite a number of spambots, it might just be a filter going wrong somewhere. Try setting up a free e-mail account somewhere.

Re: Back to the game, again!
And as soon i have press the enter on the Multiplayer the game crashes....
Ok i change the exclusions on my firewall and allowed the fsopesn 3.6.10d and i am in.
It fails the PXO registration, naturaly and then it takes me on the games screen.
I see no games and there is no lobby, what can i do now to see others and games?

Re: Back to the game, again!
Uh... use 3.6.10r or any nightly in r versions to play, d is for debug :b
Signed, me

Re: Back to the game, again!
Legendary eh?

NetD is down at the moment, not sure why or for how long, hopefully it'll be back up soon (read; couple days).

It's not why you're crashing though.
You should try another build (100% sure it's final you're using?)/try the latest nightly and use the "R" versions unless you've found a crash you can repeat (and, then you run the debug, and give us the log from data\ ;P)

Re: Back to the game, again!
FS2NetD is back up and running again.  A server restart killed it and it didn't come back up.

Regarding registration, the e-mail address validator that the site uses isn't very strict, it mainly just makes sure that the address entered is of a basically valid format.  The part of it most likely to fail though is where is verifies that the domain entered has both A and MX records for the domain name.  If it doesn't then it fails as a valid address.  For instance "primatel.com.cy" doesn't appear to have a MX record, so it would have failed the validation test.

Thanks Taylor :)

Re: Back to the game, again!
You mean none here heard of my squad, the Birds of Pray.
Looks like the old players have left this game for good and i should not be surprice after all this years.
As far as i remember we lost a couple pilots to the BDHR squad and the the Goldwing.
We also defeated the DS and quite afew others and we held afew nodes until the end of the first Squad Wars.
As far as i remember the 2nd SW never finish, but i could be wrong.

Re: Back to the game, again!
S1 SW was mostly just rock/torn spam with morning star pins.

S2 SW was where people tried to beat rock/torn spam in eris with 'host advantage' (Which, really isn't much of an advantage if your ping is under 200 and non-existant with under 100 in tvt).

S3 SW was where people learnt how to make turns/rock spam useless and everyone started flying like me'n'BD >.>
