You can edit the MOI in Modview.  To prevent weird actions due to improperly set MOI, you can either import the values from a tried and true ship, like one from FS2, or you can edit the values to make them all equal zero... which is what all existing TBP models are set to.

table generator and a "finalize" button?

(decides tables based on gunpoints and other crap, then creates a .tbm file when you select "finalize" along with, of course "which primary/secondary weapons would you like it to use" text boxes.)

Instead is needlessly complicating additional features (like the above), how about a tentative release date of a version that can save to file (in case I missed it) understanding it could be months or more down the road.

right now it can open POF files, and resave them - just most of the editor UIs are not active yet- and COB loading isn't coded yet - see the feature list at the beggining, greened ones are completed

I do have to admit, some way of generating a ships table entry might be nice, but I could see that being a whole other program of itself, looking at how complicated those table entries can be.  But having it generate a very basic template, with just the right amount of turrets, subsystems, and blank openings based on the pof data, might be within the scope of this program.

I think that a table generator etc would be a lot of work to put on one persons shoulders though. I suppose the best bet is to get something workable up and running, and then that will hopefully add impetus to improve and expand on the base converter :)

Well, he is planning the roadmap, so I figured this could be something for 2.2 or beyond if nothing else.  On top of that, I don't think it's all that complicated of a request.  It just needs to generate a template with all possible fields for a ship, and blanks wherever it can't generate the data from the pof directly.  The data's already all there, it just basically has to dump it to a pre-formatted file.  I might actually try and sit down and write something like that over spring break if I get a chance.

Oh, I agree, I'd love to see a table generator (in truth, I suggested one on page 2).

I think the problem is things like ship-flags. There will probably be a pretty final list of flags by 3.7, so stuff won't keep having to be added to PCS 2, but I agree, generating the text file for a ship isn't complicated from a coding point of view :)

Yeah, that's why I was saying that a real generator/editor could be a full blown program, but just spitting out a template with a few things filled in already and the rest empty isn't, that's all I meant.

I'm on the fence about tbl generation - because initial design specs for PCS2 were engine-abstract because i had planned it to be capable of dealing with both POF for FS2 Open and FOF for ferrium, but ferrium is dead - so i have to decide whether or not i want to put in a bunch of FS2 specific stuff

Heres another feature requestion.... Kazaan already looking at me with the look of death LOL..
How about rescaling an existing model?   I could bring all my fighters to scale with Saga models without having to rebuild them and relocate the points (gun, paths, eye..etc)

Where does any one actually need table entry generator? As it aint difficult to write the entries on your own and you pretty much have to do that anyway. Subsystem/subobject name list is just about all that can be used.
Do not meddle in the affairs of coders for they are soggy and hard to light

This is the thing, a simplistic table generator may be of little use, but how about one that automatically works out the vectors on your turret, so that its simplicity to use Bob's angled-turret code when it gets included etc. The potential is there, even if it takes a few generations to appear :)

and setting detail distances is hard....and so are subsystems, ect. ship table entrys are by far the most annoying to do.
