Geeks and Nerds are two different things, but that survey doesn't seem to make that distinction.
A nerd is smart/brainy and while many are prone to liking geeky topics thats not a given. But being a geek and liking geeky things hardly makes you smart. I've seen plenty of geeks who are dense as lead and nerds who could give a flip about Star Trek/D&D/whatever.

I think it'd honestly be tragic if people ticked some of those boxes there...

40.59041% - Major GeekI've met some other engineers that wouldn't really qualify as geeks, but they are also "engineers" only in the sense that they got engineering degrees. I wouldn't trust them to do real engineering as in design or test anything. But that's really just a variation on the whole geek vs. nerd debate. (My emphatic position is that I am a nerd, not a geek, but by even having this position I somewhat invalidate it. PARADOX!!!)
Are Engineers by definition geeks? Especially in the area of Computer Science?

Yup, I put down that I ran a website once, but the truth is, it was before the 'Web' existed, it was a dial-up BBS centred on the Amstrad CPC systems, I'm sure that's worth more geek points than a simple website ;)

I expect to be promoted shortly.
I would have been geekier if Warhammer 40,000 stuff showed up. And you can't get much geekier than the universe behind a tabletop game which has genetically-mutated super soldiers in power armor with pauldrons big enough to crush medium-sized predatory animals.
I know 40k players, and I've been into Games Workshop, it's probably one of the most expensive hobbies I've seen large numbers of 10-16 year olds have.A few of my mates used to play 40k in grades 7/8. Needless to say, finances caught up with them and they don't play too often these days. :P
I hate to say it, but as far as I know 40K players are the geeks that geeks look down on for being too geeky.Yeah, seriously. Weirdos.
