Title: Shivans will have new small ships?

Make the ships too big, and they're just pretty backgrounds. Why not have some new escorts and stuff? Those are the interesting ones.

Speed
Seth: 55m/s, 120 A/B's
Tauret: 65m/s, 130 A/B's
Guns
Seth: 4 (2,2)
Tauret: 6 (2,4)
Missiles
Seth: (40,80)
Tauret: (100,100)

The only things that the Seth has going for it (IMO), are a large amount of countermeasures, and a tiny cross section.

Also, i have criticisms of other classes being kept as well:

GVF Thoth: Old. Between this and the Serapis I prefer the latter, which is not only newer, but more maneuverable and faster.

GVB Osiris: This is just plain old. All it has going for it is its 2 turrets, since its missile bays are tiny for a bomber...

GTC Leviathan: I can see why you wrote the Aeolus out of the MOD, there having been only 2 dozen of them to begin with. And the Fenris was cannon fodder. But the Leviathan is horribly slow. Perhaps an engine/reactor upgrade is in order. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

GVC Aten: Unless you added turrets to this, there is little reason to keep this instead of the Mentu.

GTB ArtyDH: I thought the DH version was just a test platform for a new reactor, except with 1 less tail fin, and a niftier paint job. So by the time of Inferno, all Artemises would have that reactor but still have the old white paint job. Or are you repainting the DH model? Why did you drop...

GVF Serapis? Aside from its paper thin hull, its not that bad.
GVF Tauret? It can use the Kayser. The only bad thing I found was the lack of Maxim usage.
GVF Horus? The Vasudans won't have any interceptor class without it, unless you use my idea for the Naunet... email me if your interested... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
GVC Mentu? It can take about 4 times the damage of the Aten, and has 10 more turets. Great antifighter/antibomber ship, whereas the Aten is pathetic, so...

Because it is superior. End of discussion. You can't compare stats, and expect to find a better ship. It's the feel of it, the look, and the maneuvering. You either like it, or you don't.

IMO i just prefer the Tauret over the Seth, because of its stronger weaponry and better speed. The Seth is good, dont get me wrong, its just I think the Tauret is better.

I got one like that, its meant to be like a Rivonna that is more dedly than a Demon. I'm proud of it to you can use it if you whant.

Easy there tex, it's not that big of a deal. At the start of the "Great War" the Orion class was approaching a decade in age (I believe). At the time of the second shivan incursion the things are over four decades in age. If I remmeber correctly (can't seem to find it in the forum at the moment) the Inferno campaign takes place about ten years after that (putting them at a ripe old age of 50-55).

To put this in perspective, the last of the American Battleships were retired at an age of 45. Even then there were only two left in service when the plug was pulled.

And one last point to help support the Inferno staff's descision is that after the shock of realizing the Shivan's nearly limitless combat capabilities I'm sure it would have promted the GTVA to find newer ship designs (with the weaknesses of the Shathanas in mind I'm sure) and deploy them as quickly as possible.

The Orions served the GTA and (later) the GTVA very well, but they are now obsolete. I think it's time to move on.

The campaign now takes place in 2401, that's why most fs2 ships are also outdated.

The Galatea was designed to destroy the Sathanas Class Warship.
