You got a comannder that gives you orders, delegates work and build us bases, reasearch and mining outposts. Other either scout around mapping  wormholes, placing sensor drones, escort miners or constructors or assault enemy positions

Too bad. .
Teh game is addictive and fun. Lot of factions and different ships..from constructors, miners, scoutr, fighters, stealth fighters, bombers to larger capital ships

Graphics is a bit older but the engine is about to be re-done and there are better ships to DL if you want

There is an SCP equivalent team working on it, some intersting stuff they are doing.

I tried to get into it.
Unfortunately for some reason i couldn't understand, people in the game were a bit hostile (not in the sense they they shot me, i expect that. more like newb trash talking). could have been an isolated incident, but meh

Hmm, I'll have to check it out.  Sounds interesting.  About the newb thing, you'll find some players are ***holes when it comes to people who haven't figured everything out yet.  They forget that they either learned the hard way themselves or someone showed them.  Maybe along time ago, but once upon a time, they were new, too.

It happenes...but then you play online with 200 players AT ONCE (that the max limit for a single game, altough usually there's a about 30 vs. 30) sooner or later you're bound to run into a few noobs..

I played yesterday and some idiot booted his whole team....nedless to say we lost
But mostly you'll find quite ordinary ppl.

I just downloaded it yesterday, and i must say i'm impressed. Though the graphics aren't amazing, they serve their purpose. The gameplay is nice, and people on newbie servers are friendly. The amount of factions you can choose from is nice aswell. Only thing is some races have capitals that are the end of game, even when you got ships that are supposed to "counter" those ships. We threw lots of heavy bombers, and a destroyer, a frigate at a Rixian Unity Cruiser, and it didn't even get scratched in the attempt. All while enduring fire from a blockade of SkyCap turrets aswell.

You need Cap-killer torpedos to take them out, not regular anti-base torps (altough something sounds amiss in what you say..could be they were cheating)

As far as I know there's a great deal of modability in the game, a lot of mods and stuff, so on some servers hte balance may be a little off.
