With spoilers? Here you go...

Spoiler:
Well, continuing from the end of A2, Desmond and the others go to Monterriggioni (or something like that), where, by the way, the Villa of Ezio and the others were in the past, hoping that there they can hide from the Templars. They want to find the Piece of Eden, and at the end of the game it turns out that Ezio locked it away in the Colosseum. They go there, and...

What the ****?  I don't know what the overall backstory is (mankind's awakening/ascension?), but after all that effort to get there and that happens, well that's a sledgehammer to the nutsack.

Well, the backstory is that the Templars are a secret organization-sorta-thingy and want to assume total control over the world (and they usually have something to do with Christianity) and the Assassins are the good guys who basically kill for peace; and that genetic memories are in our DNA and with a certain machine (Animus) you can visit and relive the memories of your ancestors, thus, for instance, accessing informations he/she knew. The ending is - obviously - in the present.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood ENDING
Oh, yeah, I know what the Animus is since I played a bit of the first one, but
Spoiler:
that woman in Brotherhood talking about your awakening and hearing the words and seeing the lights, plus the Apple reacting to your DNA, just made me wonder about powers hidden in our DNA that the Templars want to suppress so they can rule over us.  You know, the Age of Aquarius where men rule themselves rather than being ruled and all that.

Spoiler:
But firstly, she is said to be an Assassin, second, why would they orchestrate that escape? If they really are both Templars, why do they need to run around?
