Oh, I'm aware.  I've lost Interceptors before.

I'm just exulting in the accomplishments before my (nigh inevitable) sticky end.

short of BS and Terror ships these are my least favourite UFOs, some very iffy sight lines, strange corners, a good number of aliens and nothing special on salvage.

NGTM-1R, I'm not sure if you know but if you crouch a solder on the square next to a lift they can look up the lift shaft and shoot anything you see

Well, despite the fact that it appears I am utter psi-bait, I didn't do too badly in that last mission - Surviving entirely by luck rather than judgement, but I survived and got a couple of kills.
Full Auto - I've got a bullet here with your name on it, and I'm going to keep firing until I find out which one it is.

I believe I have identified HLPX-COM's theme song
I will ask that you explain yourself. Please do so with the clear understanding that I may decide I am angry enough to destroy all of you and raze this sickening mausoleum of fraud down to the naked rock it stands on.

Have I mentioned that this is a great LP? Because I should probably mention that this is a great LP.

I'm rooting for Ravenholme, the weak-minded, pragmatic (At risk of being Psi'd up again? Toss yer gun!) badass that he is :D

Once we get to power armour a laser pistol and a stun launcher might be your best bet,
Spoiler:
that way you can knock aliens down all you like but cant do much, if any lasting damage to th erest of the team if you are mind controlled

*spoilers are for the off chance anyone following this dosnt know much about the games story

Awww, apparently I'm a psi-weakling. But I compensate by busting up the alien scum in manly close-combat!

Psi-attacks are bad news- we got really lucky in that last mission. Sweet LP- here's hoping for continued success!

Psi is the worst thing, except blaster bombs. I would rather deal with chrysalids than psi.

agreed at least crysalids are predictable and have to put themselves in the line of fire to do their work

Vision is hard-capped at 22 squares, IIRC.

A Chryssalid has 110 TUs at beginner and its melee attack costs 15 TU.

The average square costs 4 TU to move through.

23*4=92, 110-92=18. Even at Beginner a Chryssalid can actually approach from beyond your visual range and attack in the same turn.

That typically invites reaction shots aplenty though, if you're doing anything intelligent with your troops.

In excel I get

Attack........Action Points........Movement - Attack............Movement cost...............Range
15......................110.............................95.... ...............................4.........................23.75

At daylight vision of 22 the creature would have to be 23 squares away to be able to attack and not be seen, which while possible is unlikely.  now night missions i would agree there and from experience I know what you mean and that is when they do their best work, but even after they attack you can still deal with them, a Sectoid or Ethereal can Psi you clean across the map with no way to counter attack

Re: HLPX-COM: You're All Dying For Your Planet, Right Here!
After a certain point in the game (I forget which turn exactly) the aliens are granted constant vision on all of your troops, which makes psi even more exasperating. Nothing ruins unit cohesion like a berserk - or, worse, a mind control.

I don't know if I passed muster, but I'd still like to volunteer for meatshield experience!

You're in.

You've actually killed a few aliens, and done something incredibly useful.
