You might be interested in this, if you already own Razorwork's Enemy Engaged series (Apache Havoc and Comanche Hokum). In the latest release you get to fly the Mi24V with pilot's cockpit. You need to check if your graphics card will be able to run it as it has issues with newer cards. I've been playing EECH on and off for years but I never get very far.
I've dwelt on purchasing Allied Force, I saw it going for cheap in a local games shop recently. But I doubt I have the time available to sink the hours of practice needed into it to start really enjoying it.
I'm not that much on helicopter sims, Apache Longbow was the last one I played. I haven't played any of Enemy Engaged series.
Just a sidenote, multiplaying Falcon AF also opens a new world. We tried our first campaign mission today, and man the first hours of the war were insanely chaotic, going up and bombing something resulted in a total clusterf**k. There is no substitute for that "What the **** is going on around here?!?!" -feeling, Falcon 4 is the only sim which can continously reproduce that kind of immersion.
Imagine getting bombarded with radiomessages coming from all computer controlled friendly aircraft (about 100 in air, all assigned to do different stuff), but in addition now your human wingmen blabber on top of that with TeamSpeak. Your radar warning receiver shows enemy air and ground radars active on the whole frontal hemisphere. Your own radar picks up tens of contacts in front of you, some of them friendly, most of them not, missile release cues and cries of help being yelled to radio all the time. SAM smoketrails are piercing cloud cover, representing totally apocalyptic scenery from a far, like there would be a huge white tentacled moster sitting on the ground, trying to catch airplanes! And it was AWESOME!
In the end, it was a mission failed for the whole package, but man it was fun! As a wingleader I managed to down 4 before that telephonepole sized SA-2 finally got me. If you ever get Allied Force, feel free to contact me about it any time. It does take about 2 months of training to start single player campaign, multiplayer would be good to start after several single player campaigns completed. Playing through a single campaign takes about 2 weeks of 2-3 hour flying / day, depending on how often you want to fly yourself.
