Title: Replacing turret model on Deimos corvette?

Hey,
so I've been FREDding a bit recently and wanted to create a juiced up Deimos "antagonist" (more HP, different weapons, etc...).
I know how to do all of it in FRED itself, but it would be cool if the weapons actually used the correct weapon models in the end. (I've also created a Leviathan abomination with more HP and a Terslash in place of the Sgreen)

I've replaced turret 14 and 18 on the Deimos (small terran blob turrets) with Terslash's, but ofc they still got the blob turret models. Is there any way to actually replace the turret model on the existing ship model without being a seasoned modeler?
I would then ofc also like to save that model and being able to freely paste it into FRED at any time as some "DeimosALT" or w/e with the updated model, HP, etc...

Any and all help is much appreciated :)

I believe that you can make some simple model changes in PCS2, though I have never tried it myself.  You would need to create a table entry for it however, as if you simply made the changes to the existing Deimos model and left it as the same name, all Deimos in the game would reflect the altered appearance.  A simple modular table would be the best choice on that front.  You can make the changes to the weapon type and increased hull strength in the table rather than in FRED.

Alright, that sounds good. Downloaded PCS2 and POF Tools.

What files would I be searching for? I am not a modder and very new to this. The table files to modify the ship characteristics (the .tbl's?) are rather elusive^^'

Edit: I've found the model files now, but cannot seem to find a way to replace the 2 Piranha launchers models on the Deimos with TerSlash models.

Make a copy and play around bud.   You can't break it.   


But if you do, it's an easy reset.

Pretty good. Now I just need a way to easily place new turrets on ships that don't have them yet (Iceni with AAAf's)
Sadly I cannot attach the screenshot of the model, since it keeps giving me errors.
