When Setekh departed, all the hosting requests that he was working on disappeared with him, so I need all of those that sent him a hosting request and haven't heard from GameSpy to resend your requests to me... [email protected] Thank you for your time... :)

As I've said though - we'll get round to these things as soon as we can. Just post here once and we'll eventually do something about it. Bombarding us with PMs, emails and posts isn't going to make us more eager to do it (you see, almost all of the staff have exams, work and so on at this point in the year. It's a very busy time for us) so please be patient.

We thought about it - but this is only a seasonal problem. Everyone has exams at this time of year and it's unfortunate that Setekh leaft when he did as well as my problems in real life as well - thus the problem is more noticable than it typically has been before. Hopefully by the end of June we'll be back up to full strength again.

Oh and if you haven't gotten a reply from me yet, that doesn't necessarily mean I haven't gotten your email... It likely means I was probably just too busy or lazy to get a reply written up and sent off... ;)

Understandable, I know what 'busy' times can be like and what it's like to be in the period of exams and such. So just to be fair I'll give you an extra week and then I'll send the boys round to do you in :D

Seriousness in frame for a moment, the guys are busy. Simple as that. Although they could at least make a curtesy post saying whats presently happening and when at least one of us might be able to expect some form of hosting or signal of it (hint hint ;) ) we totally understand. ;D

Thanks elorran, it seems that no matter how much we say this people still can't/won't understand :)
Put simply, we aren't being lazy. We are however all in the middle of busy periods of our lives. Mine for example shall continue in this way untill the 12th of June when my exams finish. After that (assuming nothing else comes up) I should be ok to make a return. You wouldn't see anything of me at all around here now but Setekh temporarily retired and everyone else is as busy as I am so someone has to try and keep any eye on things. Thus I'm forced to maintain some presence to keep things going.
The same goes for everyone else on the staff right now, there's only so many hours in a day and if those hours are packed with real life work, exams or whatever else may be going on then the last thing you think about at the end of a day is getting someones forum online for them.
So once again, please try and be patient everyone. We are sorry for the inconvienience caused by us not being able to do much but there really is nothing to be done about it. It's the time of year and in my experience things have been this way in the FS community ever since I joined it.
So, try and be understand - we'll get things done but it will take time :)

Already been through school... and college. School may suck, but enjoy it while you can. Life changes majorly once you've left and sometimes you find yourself wishing that you could go back. I don't, but some people do.

Mine came through last night. I sent off the reply stuff and hopefully it'll be sorted by some time tonight or tomorrow. Then just perhaps I might have NAYNE fully up and running by next week (of course there will be something up the moment I get access :) )
On another note, I'm still hiring for Legacy of Kqwa or a production team 'in general' to help on present projects (LoK and Angel Storm) and possible future ones (When World Collide). And note to wildfire, I haven't forgotten about you. I've just been busy the past few days :)

Eh, I PMed Thunder a few weeks ago, I think. Anyways, I need hosting - I asked Setekh a couple three months ago. Hosting for my campaign, NTV.

Honestly no, but I'm going to contact Setekh anyway to ensure that anything he had going on is made known to the rest of the staff so we don't loose anything by accident... Once that's done I should be more informed about things like this :)

I'm working on the banner thingy/avatars for LM right now... I'm actually putting a lot of effort into this one... (Demon with big holes in it, burning, Deimos cutting it up, etc).
Oh yeah.. I still have SS and FC internal access...

just one question... to anyone that knows...
I'm using Cute FTP Pro,
is there any way to transfer files from one FTP server to another?
(say, the one i was using, transferring to 3dAP servers)
I know there's a way, and i don't want to have to download all the files and then upload them...
besides, 3dAP and the server i was using have much faster connections than me, so it would only take them a few seconds to transfer all the files, but if i download and re-upload them, it would take hours

i mean, if i could actually get to one server (either mine or 3dAP) then it would be a cinch, but that's not possible right now, and there's got to be a way.
I think both servers have to support it though. Mine does, I don't know about 3dap servers...
anyone else got any suggestions? it would take me days to download/upload all the files one by one :) lol

how do I get the 'hosted sites' image on 3dap.com/hlp main page (at the bottom left) and also my 'forum name'... shouldn't it have an image/custom title or something like that?
I don't need a forum right now, so don't worry about that ;)
What else needs to be done?
My site will be going online in a few days... there's some scripts I just can't seem to figure out, but I'm well on my way :)

Um... dude, before you get to far ahead of yourself, what exactly are these files? Yes there's unlimited space but that doesn't mean you can upload 200Mb of MP3s or work files or whatever... sure some stuff can be put on your 3DAP FTP but you can't use it as an unlimited file server for anything that takes your fancy...

lol, don't worry Thunder! I'm not going to take advantage of HLP!
All personal files (MP3s, etc.) are hosted from me and my friends' web server...
the 200 MB of files are ALL freespace/freespace 2 related:
Patches, MODs, Tools, a couple of old Freespace trailers, etc.
any crap that isn't Freespace related is kept on my server, don't worry.
oh, and you wouldn't know about my dilemna, would you? (see my previous post, above yours)

It really gets to me that you of all people Thunder would think I'd abuse the servers with personal stuff...
i assure you that won't happen. that 200 and something MB of files are all freespace related / my site related.
in fact, 51.5 MB of the files are BETA versions of my site. As I'm sure you know Flash FLA files take up quite a lot of space.

If you could do the forum for us too, that'd be nice. The banner on the NTV site should work as the forum banner, and I can coerce (I love that word) BW into making reply buttons based on it, I think.

It's been a while since I got access to hosting now. And though my connection is still an issue, hence the reason no updates on any of my sites for a while, I wouldn't mind getting NAYNE linked from the main HLP page menu.
Anything specific required for that other than one of those little graphics?

btw, a thing that we really need, even more than the hosting, is a forum to organize our work without spamming the modding forum or using private messages that aren't very efficent

You'll have to ask Thunder or Shrike. AFAIK all FTP access has to go through them.

I am also wondering where my hosting request has gone to. The ITHOV campaign would like hosting and forums aswel. If your the man to talk to Maeglamor, then those of us still waiting for a response would like an answer. Wouldn't we Karma?

Guys hosting is a team decision.
I will of course notify the rest of the staff to your requests but hosting requests are coming in thick and fast so you'll have to be patient.
I keep a list so you won't be forgotten or brushed under the carpet guys just please try to wait a bit. :)
BTW I'm effectively immune to all forms of coersion with the possible exception of cool hardware or cold hard cash. Hypnotism just won't cut it. :wink:

the point was that the project is running, we made 4-5 ships that are, in my opinion, nice, plus a lot of other stuff, our team is slowly growing up...we are also getting a lot of applications but organizing the job of more than 2-3 person only with mail or private messages is pretty impossible, and its two months that i'm saying to who ask to participate the project to wait till we get hosted...and without gettin a word (except your precedent reply) from hlp staff....sorry for "pressing" but i think you can excuse me due to the situation (and because i didn't know how it works):)
btw, i have a question...is (as i think) the way to get a forum chained to getting hosted or may be indipendent and (maybe) faster? you know, the web space isnt SO important
