Inferno ship specs/glory shots
As release gets nearer and ship specifications become more finalised, I thought you guys might like to see some of our ships and their (provisional, but probably final) descriptions and armaments. (That it also helps save ship descriptions in case they get lost in a TBL update is rather helpful too. :p) I'll add to this about once a week, maybe more depending on feedback.

GTF Perseus ADv

The Advanced Perseus is the only Capella-era fighter left in service, although she was customized by Nankam Aeronautical for increased speed and firepower over the original design. As an interceptor, the Advanced Perseus is equipped with high-capacity weapon energy and afterburner fuel reserves for high performance over an extended period of time. However, one should be aware that these reserves take much longer to recharge than in most fighters.

Armament:
1x4 medium cannon mount
3x12 missile battery

GTC Bellerophon

The Bellerophon is a Terran high-tech multi-role cruiser, built with advanced weapon turrets and a powerful engine to engage fighter formations effectively. Unusually for a cruiser, the Bellerophon has a respectable anti-warship armament for operations such as convoy escort and combined arms assault on lightly defended targets. Introduced twenty-one months into the EA conflict, the Bellerophon is instrumental in the new GTVA military paradigm as an effective warship in nearly all situations.

Armament:
1x medium beam cannon (fore)
3x small beam cannon (2x fore, 1x aft)
3x AAA beam cannon
6x class A anti-fighter cluster cannon
4x class B flak cannon
6x class B photon cannon
1x class C plasma cannon
2x class B anti-fighter missile launcher

GTD Oberon

For critical escort of valuable assets, the GTVA deploys the Oberon class. Although extremely compact, falling between corvette and destroyer size classes, the Oberon mounts the much heavier firepower of a destroyer. Armed with extended range plasma cannons, her sole purpose is to defend assets against other flanking destroyers instead of risking the much larger Boreas and Cabari classes. The Oberon is seeing considerable deployment because of her low crew requirement.

Armament:

2x medium beam cannon (1x port, 1x starboard)
21x class A extended range plasma cannon
10x class C point defense laser

GTI Arcas

With the old Arcadia class showing its age even during the Capella incident, Terran Command decided it was time for a new class of station. The Arcas was designed to be a far more secure military base than the older Arcadias. Initially conceived as a base for fleet command centres, the advent of the Warlock supercarrier left the Arcas resigned to the more menial, but nevertheless vital duties of resupply, ship maintenance and system defence. The Arcas serves as a front line military base and repair yard for GTVA vessels, and is also compatible with extensions to the Arcadia station.

Armament:

6x huge beam cannon
6x class A plasma cannon
8x AAA beam cannon
16x class B photon cannon

The Bellerophon is one of the best uses of [V] textures I can ever remember seeing. The Perseus Advanced is cool as well. The other two less so, IMO, but that's just me.

I'm guessing you don't have the more recent updates since your Perseus still has a brown cockpit, and you have working engine glows...

I should say "More" but I already know what would you reply :P

Would you be able to make a one entry per day ? It should be enough to keep us interested.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Same here, i'm really into ship designs and specs. I'll definetly be watching this thread.

Perseus ADv: I WANT ONE!!!!

Bellerophon: Very long-range strike cruiser-ish. Beauitiful design aswell. Definetly my favrioute!

Oberon: What's the role of the sticky outy thing at the bottom; sensor array? Other than that, good solid design.

Arcas: If i'm right, Woomeister made this, and i would like to personally congratulate him. Its a perfect design. Its completly different to its predecessor, but you can see how it evolved out of the old arcadia. Good job Woo  , i owe you a drink!

Thanks, that station was a pain to make, I think that one was my sixth attempt or so. I think it was worth the hassle in the end :)

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Some EA ones.

EAF Claymore Mark II

The second generation of the Claymore was intended to supplement and not replace its elder sibling. Packing a powerful array of guns and missiles, the Mark II outperforms our Herc III in combat, but cannot match its armor and secondary weapon capacity. The Claymore II is at its most dangerous when launching volleys of Stinger missiles into combat, which are far more lethal than our Hornet type and extremely dangerous to large and sluggish craft. The Claymore II's combat role is flexible, although it is most commonly employed for capital support and warship suppression operations.

Armament:
1x2 medium cannon mount
1x4 heavy cannon mount
2x8 missile battery

EAB Aetna

The Aetna is the EA light bomber, quite similar to the old Athena class. Unlike the heavier EA bombers such as Peregrine and Gagana, the Aetna does not carry bombs but instead carries missiles designed to disable and disarm its target, allowing the bigger bombers a clear run on their target. She also has a limited dogfighting capability which allows the Aetna to act as a heavy fighter when not pursuing larger vessels, but the lack of primary weapon points limits her in this role. Such wings are often equipped with long range missiles and anti-subsystem weapons, making them ideal fleet suppression platforms.

Armament:
1x2 heavy primary mount
2x6 missile battery

EAC Eclipse

The Eclipse is a very strong opponent with multiple advanced weapons systems. Its three main armament types - swarm missiles, cluster and heavy flak guns, and rapid fire 'Shredder' pulse cannons, are very lethal against fighter targets. Her secondary armaments include two small EA rail cannons for use against capital ships as well as a small forward beam cannon. All this firepower in such a small frame does not come without a price, of course, as the Eclipse pays for this with a low engine output. She is undoubtedly one of the most formidable cruisers a fighter pilot can encounter.

Armament:
1x small beam cannon (1x fore)
6x class A heavy anti-fighter multiple pulse cannon
3x class A anti-fighter swarm missile launcher
3x class A cluster flak cannon
2x class C rail cannon

EAD Ryujin

The premier destroyer of the Earth Alliance, the Ryujin, was only recently introduced in the EA-GTVA conflict. Armed with the brand-new Phalanx AAA beam cannon, as well as the EA's usual assortment of anti-fighter weaponry, the Ryujin also incorporates several rapid firing railgun turrets into its armament to engage capital ships. Although certainly not as powerful as the Lindos in this department, the multi-role nature of this destroyer makes it a considerable threat to all spacefaring vessels. The Ryujin also has a very high engine output for a ship of her size and extremely tough hull plating. However, the destroyer's trump card is in it's forward beam cannon, which can collapse the field from a target's subspace drive, thereby preventing it from entering subspace.

Armament:
1x large subspace interdictor beam cannon (1x fore)
2x medium beam cannon (1x port, 1x starboard)
4x rapid-fire AAA beam cannon
9x class A railgun
2x cluster flak cannon
3x class C anti-fighter missile launcher
2x class A anti-fighter cluster missile launcher
2x class B pulse cannon

:jaw: :jaw: That is so much better than the original Claymore Mk. II (which I never though quite fit in with the EA fleet).  You guys are getting me very excited. Can't wait to see what's next!

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Another set of great ships, all supebly made. Inferno is certainly setting new standards compared to retail.

Claymore MkII: I didn't really know about the redesigned MKII when i first saw it, but now its starting to warm up to me some.

Aetna: This baby has special ops written all over it. Small, role-orientated, fast; it's exactly what an ace would want to fly. I love this ship. :)

Eclipse: As a veiwer, i love how this ship looks. As a fighter pilot however, i have nagging feeling i'm going to learn to hate this ship

Ryujin: This is another great ship. The structure is logical and well designed, and you can easily see a Tereus > Ryujin lineage.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
For those of you who would like to know the history of the above...

Perseus ADv:
Original concept was made for Temporal mechanics by Dark. Like the Phobos the model was lost. Though this one isn't exactly like Darks version, it's based off it. The low poly one was made using the original V mesh, the high poly one is a variant of Venoms HTL Perseus.

Bellerophon:
Designed and made by Venom by my request. I wanted a cruiser that used the fenris maps (the Ticonderoga wasn't publically avaliable then) The orginal version was given to me and I started conversion, about 5 minutes later Venom sends me an updated version with a better looking bridge. The original was named Glaucis and the update was named Bellerophon.

Oberon:
Originally designed by Aldo for Over the Top (OTT) the mesh was discovered in one of Aldos modeldumps. After I converted it Venom reclaimed a version for OTT :D

Arcas:
Model made after several attempts at a GTVA station. I wanted to try and merge the R1 Arcas and the Arcadias designs together. The current model was the result.

Claymore Mark II:
Variant of a version in one of Aldos dumps, it was redesigned to fix the primary fire complaints of the R1 version and to match the newer EA ships.

Aetna:
Mesh by Rampage was donated to me, first thing I said when I saw it was EA Athena.

Eclipse:
A very old model, was originally made in 2002, except for remaps hasn't really changed since then.

Ryujin:
Variant of the Ryujin destroyer from OTT. The OTT Ryujin was designed to replace the Tereus model.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
What exactly is a railgun in the Freespace context?

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
The EA railgun is a large armor-penetrating cannon that fires dense projectiles using magnetic accelerators. The projectile either embeds itself in the armor or explodes from the impact, as it is made of inherently unstable materials. It's completely useless against shields, but repeated exposure to railgun 'shells' will make an opponent look like swiss cheese. The Icanus mounts two enormous railguns which launch projectiles over 70m wide and 300m long - which could probably kill a cruiser-sized vessel in a single blow. Luckily, they're designed to be used against bigger targets. ;)

Ooh, I always wanted one of those..... Will we get to see these weapons in full action against some poor ******* in a GTD Boreas? (Assuming the GTVA/EA war has been redone.)
