Those destroyer models are both really good. I think they'd make good candidates for heavy destroyers. :yes:

Regarding the sharpness, remember that everything looks different once mapped. And autosmoothing seems to do the job quite well IIRC - I think I remember Woo giving the Boreas a once-over ages ago!

 
Thanks. :) I would try to add turrets, but I'm not sure about scaling yet.

Ehm...are you going to make Inferno ships of them? In case Inf doesn't need them, they could be free-use ships available in a few.

Boreas is one destroyer that really needs a HTL makeover or something IMO. With the right textures it'll be the Raynor's evil twin... :nervous:

I can see it now... a Boreas/Raynor/Sirona/Hecate fleet patrolling a nearby planet... :nervous: :nervous:

I really don't like mixed fleets, with one of everything. They make the force look like a bunch of unorganized pirates.

Partially seconded.

Though for me, if it's not more than two caps and some of the fighter wings are the same (the other two probably came from somewhere else and are in a joint operation), then I don't mind. Never know how many designs companies have in their archives... not to mention that space is big, subspace or not... :nervous:

:lol: Somehow the way you mention those pirates reminds me of a said force with an extreme bond among its members... virtually uncrackable nuts. :nervous:

sorry, but i disagree: each class must have "strong"points and "strong"points. Weakpoints are just "stronger"points in other ships. :P (yes, i'm from the same countryof mobius and i have the same lack of english words...)

Well, the Raynor can't carry a lot of fighters, the Hecate(according to the official tbl entry I find unrealistic)has poor firepower, the Orion has no efficient AAA artillery.

I'm going to find a weakpoint in the Sirona. It's being used as the SLA main destroyer in STHCRS Part 2, you know.

I'm going to find a weakpoint in the Sirona. It's being used as the SLA main destroyer in STHCRS Part 2, you know.

Perhaps the direct left and right flanks as an anyhow-guessed suggestion.

Speaking of the Sirona, it would be appreciated if I could get a pather to help me out... I'm thinking of making dock points out of the eight Elysium-textured things on its sides. Like the HTL Hecate, which has four Elysium-sized dockpoints in one location. Maybe space it wider so that eight Argos can fit, but that's not really necessary.

And I still like the Raynor-Boreas combo. They look so similar... :lol:

Well the Sirona I use is a bit different-uses SLA weaponry(Terran/Shivan hybrid)and some textures have been replaced with Shivan ones...

You can make a ship as strong or weak as you want. The Boreas has strong anti-capship weapons all over its hull: 13 plasma cannons, 4 torpedo banks, and 10 (2 small, 5 medium, 2 large and 1 huge) beam cannons. But it only has 6 anti-fighter turrets, all of which are pretty crap. Instead it relies on heavy armour to be pretty much immune from fighter attacks, and needs a fighter escort so it doesn't get pummeled by bombers.

Heres a suggestion ....take it up if you want, or not :-

Alot of people like heavy bombers. Compensate for slow moving with a turret or two, and lotsa guns.

Why not make a gunship ? give it lots of armor, make it something big (not as big as a cruiser, but bigger then a bomber) , give it 2 or 3 turrets, quite a few gun banks and big missile payload, and bingo, u got urself a gunship.


Im not sure if its been done or not...just sounds like a nice idea.


Think 'GTB Ursa', but its bigger,meaner cousin with a prison record.  :drevil:

There was this Star Rider gunboat on Hades Combine, but I don't find it anymore (have the files on my PC though). Would be cool if someone will finish it sometime because it has no dockpoints. Well, it didn't belong to Inferno anyway.
