Isn't that just a station by TrashMan?
Yes, it is.
It's also used in FOW: COTS.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Yes.

Anyway, The Daegon model is proving very unsuitable for the role of a Solar dreadnought (large beams look comical coming from it) and I really need a new model. But unfortunately the pickings of 3.5-5km Terran capital ships with several large beam turrets (but not Amaterasu levels of turret absurdity) and 40-50 turrets overall are extremely slim. I really, really don't want to use the Nemesis but it looks like it might be the only option.

The Nemesis is an awesome ship, just the HTL model of it by Moonred needs to be finished. :P

Re: A celebration of Freespace
It's not the Nemesis itself that's the problem so much as the Solar fleet textures look terrible on it. Is Redmoon still around? The name is not familiar to me.

EDIT: I understand this HTL Nemesis is not the same as Inferno's internal one, right?

Re: A celebration of Freespace

Does the Daegon really look that bad with big beams? There aren't that many terran superdestroyers, unfortunately.
There's the TSD ILoli but it's under EW lockdown. I don't know how good that would look with big beams (even though its meant for them).

Re: A celebration of Freespace
The Daegon is so spindly that BFBlue beams are almost as wide as the ship itself. Also its turrets are positioned such that it can fire almost its whole arsenal of beams in any direction, which makes a mess of balance.

Maybe when the Dark Horizon is finished, or that looks far too advanced...

Has an incredible amount of damage detail to it too.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
That could work. How many turrets does it have?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I'd wager not as much as the Amaratesu (Sp?), it's considerably smaller, I think 4Km in length.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
You could just remove some of the turrets from the table, Woolie Wool. That'd do just as well.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
There are so many on the Amaterasu that even trying to find them in PC2 is a horrific task. It's insane.

Well I hope the Dark Horizon doesn't have more than 60. 60 should be plenty for anything short of a juggernaut.

Also, the FS AI decided to stage the lamest capship battle ever.

I had a test mission with an Izanagi (with the Nemesis model) fighting a Tanen and, at first it went well, but then the Izanagi positioned itself directly above the Tanen, so that neither warship was able to hit the other with their main beams. Their smaller beams do next to no damage against dreadnoughts (they're mostly for wiping out cruisers and corvettes) due to the "supercap" armor type used by dreadnoughts and juggernauts (not the same as the "supercap" flag), but instead of the Izanagi rolling on its side or the Tanen pitching up, they continued trading blows with their slash bleams for forty minutes until the AI crapped out and they stopped moving or firing.

Again, um, why not just remove the table entries for some of the turrets? Won't that work?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I'm guessing he means that it's going to be difficult to find the right turrets to take out while keeping the ship evenly turreted.

Silly question perhaps, but why not just tailor make an other type of beam for it that is about as power but has a smaller muzzle charge and beam width etc.?

It could be the same size as the BFGreen.
