Yeah ... it shouldn't be that hard to scale the size/lifetime of the particles based on the thruster radius...

Heh... If it was any more longer it might be a valid weapon of last resort against a guy on your six...

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
Lenght of a trail depends on ship's speed and particle lifetime.
It can be easly changed by messing with FPS of the animation, but may start looking ugly at some point.

It was a joke, my old beam looks like thrust , the new thrust looks vaguely like an old beam...

lol... that shot looks like it should have the SR-71 Blackbird (or it's distant descendant) as the ship emitting that engine wash.  :)

The first image is exactly what I had in mind when desigining the thruster.

Got fighters on your tail? This is a good way to get rid of them.

Unfortunately a still image can't capture the glorious spamminess of multiple capship flak turrets in Wings firing at the same time.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
They were released to the general public a while ago. I can't remember who exactly released them offhand and freespacemods is down, but I downloaded them from a public thread. Maybe it was c914? It came with a couple of cruisers and an installation as well (although the "cruisers" are destroyers and the corvette a cruiser in Wings due to the use of real-life ship terminology).

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
Nah, I just got confused. No worries.

Nice dakka, but it doesn't look quite as insane as retail Standard Flak on a ship with Fury AI.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
It is equally as insane (fire rate is equal and Wings uses Fury AI), it's just that the shots travel faster so you see fewer of them. The result against enemy fighters is nothing short of devastating.

What ship does the Atlanta-class look like anyway? It doesn't resemble any of the ships on the BP website.

You have read all the various info pieces I've posted before, right?

Anyway, any info I post I'd have to post tomorrow because it's midnight and my brain isn't operating at full capacity.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
I removed some of the turrets on those models to make them properly balanced with Wings' capship weapons (the Atlanta-class cruiser has 21 turrets compared to 34 turrets for the corvette that it is based on).
