And decals. And specialized beam decals which would make it look like the beams were continuous even when they weren't!

Add to that normal mapping to the damage decals to actually depress the impact area, and persistent damage explosions that show you fires on the surface of the target ship.

It's the same debris either way, just this way it has fire.

Believe me, when you see what exploding fighters look like, you'll never want it turned off.

The explosions are custom work for BP from Nighteyes. Blame BP, not everyone on Hard Light.

Can someone fix the Hattie's specular map? It's eating all the detail on some of the normal maps.
