Some guy did a great animation illustrating what I've been saying for a while about how Venus gets terraformed, its pretty dramatic too!

Plus our central point of conflict...

Sweet, terraforming Venus set to One Piece music. :yes:

I've actually been thinking a lot about colonizing Venus. One of the interesting thing about the planet is that the atmosphere is so dense that at the surface it's 92 times the pressure of Earth, with extreme, lead-melting heat. However, once you get up to about 50km, the temperature is a baumy 72 degrees F, and the pressure is equal to that of Earth. Even more exciting is the fact that since the atmosphere is so dense, oxygen is actually a lifting gas. You could fill a ship with breathable air and it could actually use that to float, or at least offset weight.
I even did a concept of what it could look like to live there;

Oh, right on!
Unfortunately, we're indeed going for an actual atmosphere overhaul, and thus pulling off the feat that you describe is thus... not in our scope.
Save that one for another story for sure, though!
