Re: A celebration of Freespace
Well the green and red accents are pretty much canon for the WC1/2 era of Wing Commander but only the Arrow is really egregiously "Italian" looking due to the stripes near the engine intakes resembling a flag.

Venture-class corvette. Probably not made in Italy.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Wow, nice ship, where did it came from?
The Phalanxes and rocket pods are lovely.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I made the ship last week I've been trying to work out the bugs most of this week.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Maybe I could help. There's something about this ship that I really, really like. The color scheme, phalanxes, the overall shape make it look like the most Terran ship I've ever seen.
I'm quite experienced with ship tabling, so I could help you squish any bugs it might have.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
the small turrets are the ones I'm having the most trouble with the turret base moves in a way i don't like. If you would like I can send you a copy of the ship?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Go ahead, I'll see what I can do about it, MP turrets can act strangely sometimes.
I could also help you with fine tuning weapon effects. I've been experimenting with realistic guns for quite some time.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
How would I send it to you email?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Upload it to Mediafire and send me a link via forum PM. That's the easiest way, plus you get it backed up in case something bad happens.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Ok I started an account on Mediafire and uploaded the model. Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?3e5zy206k5wbdrw

Re: A celebration of Freespace
You have too many multiparts.
You can only have 25 maximum.

Maximum 50 rotating subobjects per ship. And each multipart counts as two (base + barrel)

Re: A celebration of Freespace
For some reason, it's no longer the case. Check out Scooby Doo's models, large ships have more than 25 turrets, and they're all multiparts. The new Vexor Steve-O is making also uses more than 25 multiparts and all of them work.
Also, some tables for that ship would be helpful. It'd make getting it in-game for testing much easier.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
You're also using way too many textures for turrets. Consolidate them onto one or two larger textures. (Really, two or three are fine, six? Why?)

Turret fire points are misplaced, they're too far off the tip of the barrel. Going to crack it open in Max to see if there's anything else that might be affecting turret rotation.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
We know you're working on the bugs, and we're reporting them to you, so you can fix them.
Also, for a second model, it's amazing (what was your first one, BTW?).

Re: A celebration of Freespace
thanks for the reports I will work on them

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Right, it could use a split and a move to modding forum. This thread isn't the best one for discussion.
Oh, and awesome pic, Droid.
