Hello, all.

As of late, I've been experiencing crashes in FS2_Open a little more often than usual. The debug build does nothing but throw up an error in the logfile, shown as this thread's name (minus the question mark), each time I run it. The debug build generates the beach ball of doom, but fails to even load the game and crashes, generatig the logfile. Here is my second-latest log, taken from an FS2_Open build I compiled from the latest version of the source code SVN only yesterday.

The above log was taken when the debug build was running with the -nosound flag enabled. The reason for this is that attempting to initialise OpenAL causes the debug build to crash as well, with the same error. For reference, here is a log taken with the -nosound flag disabled:

This is not a new issue; I first encountered this problem while attempting to troubleshoot a crash that happened just as the credits roll of JAD3 began. In a related incident, I was unable to obtain any information on why all non-FS2 Shivan and Ancient craft in ASW1 looked mostly white on my screen because of this same error. My most recent incident was during a replay of WiH's first mission, when the game crashed just as I intercepted the first warhead in the mission. I was also unable to obtain any information on this crash because of this error.

Huh. That's swashmebuckle's crash. He gets it on a mac, and he gets it repeatedly, every time he starts up since we added the go_faster code. He gets past the OpenAL normally but always crashes during graphics init.

I'm on a Mac too. Early 2008 MacBook running Mac OS X 10.5.8. Intel Graphics, obviously.

Ok, so we've got two Leopard boxes that crash, with ATI and Intel, and two Snow Leopard boxes that don't, with Nvidia and Intel. Looks Leopard related now. But one crashes at OpenAL init, and one makes it through that to OpenGL init and then they both crash there.
