I'd like to get Inferno R1 running on a Mac, having played it on Windows in the past.
Unfortunately, all the files on the Inferno site are presented as .exe installers. Would it be possible to get the straight-up VPs so I can set up a mod folder?
-
Well you can't play standalone with just the VPs, can you? If you mean SCP patch, which I assume you do, they should be laying around somewhere
-
INFR1 is not standalone...so the only issues really, are getting the VPs.
-
Right, but where are they lying around? I've done a bit of looking, but haven't had any luck.
-
I could pack them up and upload them somewhere...where would be convenient?
-
FSMods, please.
-
Uploading. I'm guessing a *.rar file will work?
Edit: It failed...after two hours :S
-
Isn't Inferno already on FSMods? http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.95 (http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.95)
-
No, that's an EXE installer.
-
Should I upload to my filefront account instead? FSMods gievs me errors.
-
Hmm. My only issue with that is that my connection here is spotty, so I need to be able to use the resume-download feature in Firefox 3. I'm not sure Filefront will allow that.
I really appreciate your effort, by the way.
-
ergh...then I guess I'll try FSMods again.

My god, i've gotten so confused with all the INF versions that I mixed up one that wasn't even released yet

I'm sorry for being such a bother. If it's too much trouble, I can wait until I'm on a better connection and get it from Filefront.
-
I can do it.
-
That would be welcome. The last time I tried, firefox froze. :doubt:
As in, crashed, but hung.
-
Couldn't you run the EXE on a PC, then get a thumbdrive and transfer the VP files to your Mac? I did that.
-
If I had access to any PCs, I surely would! But it's an all-Mac house and I can't get access to a quick PC internet connection (at least not without some research.)
Thanks, Cole. Let me know when they're up?
-
Uploading now.
-
Um... Swantz? "The Filetype did not upload" Something about "Stream-Octets or something. All it is is my INF folder in a .7Z.
-
Yeah, that's the error I got >.<

Can you screenshot the error? Which uploader did you use (large files or small files?)
-
Small. It was 130 MB. I don't want to screenshot it, that would entail another 1:30 of waiting.

you can d/l the Mac/Linux friendly archive here http://freespace.flatdisc.net/INFR1.7z (http://freespace.flatdisc.net/INFR1.7z)
-
Thank you! I haven't tried it yet (download still in progress), but assuming it works, it's just what I'm looking for.
A link to said version should be added to the Inferno page and the stickies here.

I've found I can extract most .exe archives on mac with either The Unarchiver: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22774/the-unarchiver (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22774/the-unarchiver) or darwine: http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ (http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/) (right click > Open With > Wine Helper)
