Yes, it is very sad. But thats life. Good things exist, then are destroyed by the people not benifiting from it. It happens everywhere, everyday, and over everything. What else is there to say?
-

how sad.
try xolox, it's austrailian* and you'll never go back... unless you are looking for porn... then you want Bearshare.
* = i can't actually back that up
-
bah, a porn corporation... :p
-
Cp knows all about porn corporations... ;)
that is kind of an.... interesting reason to purchase napster...
-
Napster was already dead. Whats the big deal?

Hint: it's five letters long, starts in K and ends in A and for some reason is usually written in bizarely alternating case.

Dude KaZaA is the most pathetic form of virus destributing P2P program out. Now WinMX on the other hand...
-
I have both operating most of the time. WinMX doen't seem to have a quater of Kazaa's content, but it does have a superb interface and distinct lack of addies and spyware.
-
WinMX's interface superb? What are you on? That has the worst interface of any P2P program out there (save maybe Audiogalaxy...).
-
A BIG *AUSSIE* COUGH (www.xolox.com)
* once again i cannot realisticly back that statement up at the moment.
-
you could say napster is fu**** :p

What? It's simple to read information on search returns, and there's enough options and buttons to keep anyone happy. However, one complaint is that too many option buttons are aquezed into too small a space, and you don't get the information about resolution and such that you get with Kazaa. Otherwise, its a pleasure to work with, if it has the content you want...

why is that?
also, multiple source downloading, automatic alternate finder, chat, hotlist functions, make it all worthwhile.

www.kazaalite.com
No adware, no spyware.

KaZaA does pretty much all of that without having a dogs breakfast for an interface.
-
What's the point in having KaZaA if there aren't any spy-ware packets to trace back to the server (and subsequently, no 'unethical' activities to partake of)?
-
lol an0n :D
napster's old... i uninstalled it in 2000.
i've used WinMX since then
-
Though the sale waws blocked... That company should get innovative and just make a clone and call it "Snatchster!"
:nervous:
(Crawls back into the net)...

Not quite. Run Adaware and you'll find one still there.
-
Yeah, I prefer Kazaalite also.
Interesting to know there's still one ad, though. Oh well, as long as it doesn't screw up my system, I'm okay.

Yeah, that's why I stopped using KaZaA. One of it's ad/spyware products screwed up my PC, so it started throwing out the blue screens of death at random times. Uninstalling KaZaA, and covering everything with AdAware fixed it.
-
I haven't had those problems with Lite though, so I'll just stick with it - although I do use WinMX as backup.
Yay, I have every South Park episode ever made downloaded now.

*installs KaZaA Lite*
*reads readme*
*learns that the AdAware alert is due to a 'dummy' dll, which is there to keep KaZaA happy*
*doesn't worry about it*
Go KaZaA Lite!
-
GO SEARCH ENGINE AND TEN MINUTES! FIND ALL THE CRAP, INCLUDING MUSIC, YOU'D EVER NEED!
I hear that Gnutella is good, tho. I wouldn't know, since mp3s are a, er, secondary interest.

A dummy dll...One question:Why?[/i]
-
The dummy dll held all the key info for the spyware crap in Kazaa. They altered it so the stuff doesn't initialize. Although it disables some of the menu items.
Actually, newer versions of AdAware can differentiate between the dummy dll and the real one.
and unfortunately I can't use p2p sharing because of the uni's damn firewall. anything not on http port 80 gets blocked. and they have a frightening policy on port tunneling...
-
Hee hee, I can install and run WinMX at Uni... shame there's bugger all content compared to KaZaA...
