Title: OT - Cars...
Post by: Alpha on September 17, 2002, 03:24:47 pm
Ok here's the deal, what's you favorite car and WHY, good statements please. And don't go like Ferrari or something like that.

Why? I'm getting a new car because my sister is getting my old one (first time is good to be the oldest brother), I'm looking at a max price of $30k's because my dad is gonna help with the payments.

Of course, this is a hypotetical situation, this may not happen and my sister may get a used car. But when first got my used car we suffered a lot with stuff breaking down, so that's why I MAY get a new car.

By the way, I live in the US. So remember not all cars are avaiable here (comparing to Europe and other countries).

What I have in mind? A '03 Subaru Impreza WRX. 227 bhp (Horsepower), turbo, all-wheel-drive, in less words; a rally car!!

Ok, I figured this could be a good discussion topic and I could also get some good input. Hope there's no problem with it...

Either an M1A1 Abrams with a fully operational 100mm turret and one of those cool new electronic warfare rigs, or a VTOL hovercraft with enough ground clearance to deal with most traffic problems once and for all.

The first because you can blow up ****, the second because I happen to be making one in my garage. And because it's cool, even if it's only got a top speed of 30 or 40 mph.

De Lorean, what with the brushed steel finish, gull-wing doors and time traveling/flying.

I've already got a DMC t-shirt, just need the car...

somehow I don't think that will help him Stryke, allthough that would be sweet.

Personally, I'd also go with the Subaru, or maybe an Altima.  ohh, the Nissan 350z is also in that price range I think.  Porsche performance/Not Porsche price

Hey did you know that if you go to the Gamestop.com site and click on the promotion of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City there's actually a sweepstake to win a Delorean. I entered but the odds of winning are not that high.

At least I'm trying... :p

Not sure. If there's an army surplus Abrams on the market, it'll probably have its turret screwed up and engine block shot to hell, so it'll be relatively cheap (ten thousand dollarish, I'd imagine), and would only take a few months to restore.

The jumper, well, I'm trying out a design since I can't afford a car, so that should tell you the price range. There's no guarantee that it'd work, and I haven't worked out a power source yet, so it may not even be worth that. Still, I'll sell you a copy of the blueprints for, oh, say, $2500. That should take care of the fan system for me, and that's all I really need at this point. Problem is, it DOES cost moeny to make, and I'm skint. Something like $500 in life savings, $30 pocket change, and that's it. Not even enough for a housing.

Hey diamondgeezer, did you know that they actually kinda retrofitted a new Celica to look like a Back to the Future time machine. I live in Orlando, FL, and not too long ago went to Universal Studios. They had this "retrofitted" Celica by the attraction, it was just horrible. If I'm able to get a picture I'll post it so you can see it.

Dark Blue Mini Cooper, rally set up, like in the Italian Job, but with a scottish flag on the roof.

Or, to go into the realms of insantiy, Jaguar XJ220.  Or even an ole' E-type, provided it actually runs.

Well, I'll have to say the best car that has a good price/value coparison is the subaru WRX sports wagon (not sure if that's the exact type but something like that) 'cause it's 4wd and is pretty cheap for it's value (I've heard)

Another good one is the PTcruiser LE just because... well PT man!!! ;)

Too bad it costs $3 million. :(

Realistically speaking, I have not really made up my mind on what I want to buy later on (I don't need a vehicle at all least for another two years minimum, and even this I will not be buying my own until after another five or six years), but probably some sort of big-rig truck in the $55k-$60k range. That is somewhat expensive, but quite reachable after saving up for a few years.

Delorean, all the way. Stainless steel, extremely rare, '80s sports car styling, gull wing doors. BUT! Did you know that the Delorean Motor Company is still in business?! They supply parts and maintenance. But what's more, is that they buy used Deloreans, completely refurbish them, and sell them WITH WARRANTY for under $30 grand!! It's fantastic! I'm getting one as soon as I get out of school.
More information: http://www.delorean.com/

They have free E-mail, too. That's why I'm on there!

OO;;  That's a big fuggin' truck!!  Can you imagine cruising down the highway with that thing?  You'd be able to crush every single car on the road as if they were made of paper!

I don't think it was ever meant to be anything more than a one-off. After all, only three survived, one of them dropped out of the military and another was critically injured.

And the finale was the penultimate battle. They'd reached their homeworld with almost the entire fleets of both races facing off against each other. You can hardly make a second series out of a few hours of battle.

Anyway. Prowlers kick arse, as does pretty much every concept car ever made.
