When creating FRED missions, I know you can make a change to a mission, and just restart the mission in FS2 and it will load your changes...
But what about .tbls? Do you have to restart FS2 everytime you make a change in a .tbl to test that new change?
Joe.

I think so, as it has to load up the table data for the techroom.. however, I'm not too sure about tables that are used exclusively by the 3d engine (i.e. nebulas)... personally I think it's a good idea to make sure FS2 starts with your new table, anyway..

I was almost wondering the same thing. What happens with POFs? When do they get loaded? I would think that they get loaded when the mission does.

The game won't load your tbl changes until u restart the entire game, you have to quit first, i usually do that with fred, so i can see my new ships before i load the game.

BTW, can anyone verify a theory of mine? I was thinking that since FRED2 is more tolerant than FS2 about models, they need to be checked out in-game. But does that mean you need to create a test mission and all? If it's just the geometry of the ship you're in the process of testing, doesn't the Tech Room count? I would think that it is just as tolerant as in-mission, no?
I know that it's no good for testing out engine glows or anything like that, but for geometry tests it should work fine.
