Title: OT a sick bird or just a lazy bird.
Post by: Darkage on September 22, 2002, 05:50:25 pm
I few hours ago, my mon found a pigion ( did i spell that right? ) in her bedroom, i picked it up and put it in my grocery crate, where it just sits it hasn't moved in 2 hours or so.
It is prety tame, i tryed to let it fall it only flap it's wings to stay in balance but it didn't do anything not even a attempt to fly away.
I gave it a bowl of water and some fresh bread for the night.
What i would like to know how it got on the 5th floor if it doesn't want to or can't fly!?. Anyway here is pic o him/her stil prety young bird.

It is sitting there doing nothing. (eye's open)

Then i tryed to smoke it out:p j/k i don't hurt any animals.
ok igonre this pic. it was just for fun.

Anyway i am going to bring him to a vet tomorrow morning.

I was more thinking the bird flew into the open window and might have hurt itself, which is why it's up there and won't fly

Ask it

If it doesn't look lame, I'd suggest putting it outside somwhere pretty safe. It might have just hurt itself or is just lazy, either way, holding onto it is not really a good idea

Oh yah, wash your hands o.O

hmm...is he even alive? I seem to remember hearing about some disease carried by birds some time ago; they said that if you find a dead bird around your house, call someone right away, but I don't really know...

Post by: Stealth on September 22, 2002, 08:46:36 pm
that's happened to me so many times

make sure you give it enough heat.  when that happens i usually put it in my snake's cage, next to the heat-lamp, so it'll stay warm.  not too warm, but warm

Heh, it's a cigarette if you ask me. You can see the filter and it's too perfectly round to be anything more sinister. ;)

Anyways, that pigeon is as good as dead. We found a pigeon like that not too long ago and it didn't get up for anything. You're best just putting the thing out of its' misery and finding a humane way to kill it. Sorry.

i literally cannot express my excitement through the english language, perhaps i'll delve into some ewok

"Yeecha!"

"yub Yub, commander ;)"

Try giving it a worm or two, that always works in the cartoons.

*recalls fond memories of episodes of loony toons. Specificly tweety and that one bird.. you know the one episode about the San Jaun Capistrano Swallows :D *

ah... pigeons.

The balcony outside my apartement had a real pigeon brothel for a year or so. Then we closed up the balcony, and removed the pigeons and the pigeon-****.

If I remember correctly, we had to transport away about 60 kg of pigeon ****.

Just thought, I might share this with you.

This has happened to me a couple of times. The chances are that it's had it once it's lost the ability to fly. Being around as stressful a place as a human household and not even attempting to fly suggests to me that something is seriously wrong and it's best to put the thing out of its misery.

As for germs: Yes, birds do carry an awful lot of disieses but as long as you take due percautions (washing hands etc.) you should be OK. I'd be much more worried about the parasites on it.

Yeah, but i've got a ball python, about 2 and a half feet long, but it never does anything except eat rats every 2 weeks or so.  it just sits and stares at the bird.  The bird never cares about the snake either

yeah, you're right Dynamo, it really has got no chance hahaha lol... nice predicting :p

That's a smart bird... it flies in, pretends it's sick, and gets 2 days of food and attention.   Right now it's probably in the neighbor's house, and they're taking care of it like you did :p

Cincinnati. Most of my friends are Bengals fans and I mock them every waking hour of their existance for it.
