I think you are all aware of the issue where you (double)click mission file like any other file. But when FRED2 starts, it won't load this mission, instead there is a new "blank" mission.
So, can you fix this sometime?
Or am I being an idiot and there's already a fix of some kind?
-
well, thats not an error from the side of those who programmed FRED2, thats a Window thing.
Windows has been told upon your install of freespace2 that .fs2 files are freespace2 mission files and if you double click an .fs2 file windows issues a command to start the program asserted with .fs2 files.
the programmers never bothered to implement proper handling of arguements. cause they knew theire mission designers where not lazy ;) .
this is a windows default thing.
it just starts up fred2 like if you had double clicked fred2.exe

Awww... crap... :shaking:
But I am lazy... ;)
-
And so am I, I wanted this feature so if someone can do it - thanks
-
I dont think anyone is looking after fred at the moment but would you really prefer this to some actual additional functionality?
-
Why not. Preferably as default though.
If you click a mission in windows explorer, why shouldn't fred load that mission?
It's like you'd like to open word document and instead of this document, word opens a blank one...

I understand what you want and why you want.
But what if I told you (I really have no idea if this is true) that for some reason that is a lot of work, would you want that over real features that allowed you to mke your mission cool
-
Of course not, there is always priorities.
