can anyone tell me how to make FS2 stule weapons blobs and bolts? i know a lill about hyerwoxels but those make the weapon bolts go in different directions id like to know how to create straight shooting blow weapons :)


and beams how can i make beam hit/charge effects?

use a point light as a nodesource and just assign the glow to it, then animate the lights' movement.

easy -

A) I dont have time to do it

B) you didnt ask nicely

C)  I dont use lightwave because its' crap.

Hypervoxels ARE pretty, though.


Either make a volumetric Distant Light, or have a cylinder with multiple vertex rings along the sides and Hypervoxel it.

...or you could do it how FS does it...make 3 ovals and tex them with a color, move and add luminecence to suit your pleasure...

timed myself on making the scene---53 seconds...  maybe u'll find a bunch of bugs i dunno, didnt' spend any time :D

btw, straight out of LW, and it doesn't give much compression, sorry.

There's a tutorial floating around on the internet on how to make phasers with moving light nodes:

Produces a decent looking effect, but looks nothing like anything in Star Trek or Freespace, so...
