A new option for all:
Need web hosting? Want to host all those art pieces you create? Need to support your campaign/mod for some game?
We offer a full hosting package with technical support from your own community members.
The server will be run on a Red Hat linux system and will support various database types, for those of you who want to run all those nifty scripts. All hosted people will get their own e-mails as well, and of course nice FTP access for all your uploading needs.
As a limited time offer we're offering all of this and an extra bit of bandwidth for the first month!
Server:
Intel Pentium III 1260 CPU
1 GB RAM
(figures may vary slightly depending on interest rate)
By the way, the purpose of this project? As you may know, NW is going to support itself from now on, and we want to use this project to continue our community game for the benefit of all.
Post/E-mail/Private Message for details/questions, more technical information can be requested too.
(Note to Admins: sticky this if you can, thanks - NW staff)

Where's the database? I see MySQL, but no one would actually call that a 'database'.... ;)
-
Meh. That's just the basics of the server. We can load up other stuff once we've got everything trundling along.
Also, MySQL kicks ass.

mod_php is "the PHP HTML-embedded scripting language for use with Apache."
Also note that we will get a website up and running very soon.

Like Oh-My-God!!! Are you for reelz?
-
You never actually said how much space was available. ;)
-
Yes, a few details missing, such as what connection is it on, server space (as Shrike said), how many emails per "account", etc etc. :)
-
They'll be on the website. Which *kicks Kam* should be up soon *kicks Kam*. We're still playing with figures.

They're old specs. The list I stripped 'em from isn't exactly up to date.
And it's not: Intel Pentium III 1260 CPU
It's: 2 x Intel Pentium III 1260 CPU
-
so you've got two servers an0n?
-
My server = Piece of crap
This server = Chunk of gold
-
but i mean... you own both servers... right? and they belong to you and they're on the same connection,e tc.
are they different servers completely?
-
Different.
-
ok cool.
i'm thinking of setting a totally new server up next month... also it will be a "chunk of gold" and (of course) i'll be running Linux

For a price (ie, the cost of all the bandwidth it'd use) we could also set-up an Unreal Tournament gameserver and maybe a CouterStrike one too, but this'd have to be worked out once we get things chugging along.
-
Come on people, buy buy buy! :)

Buy some now and I'll knock you up some free custom error pages, ala: http://www.fattonys.com/bull****address.qvbddbc
