Title: Interface tutorials
Post by: Killfrenzy on September 28, 2002, 10:53:09 am
Does anyone know of a decent tutorial on creating custom interfaces? The B5 boys have done a great job on theirs, and they've inspired me! :D

Get a VPView, a high-end graphics suite, and lots of patience... ;)

P.S. I'm not just being facetious.  It really and truly is simply a matter of making something like a thousand new images that are each the same size and name as the originals, but otherwise entirely your own creation.  There is no guide to being creative with a paint program: you have to use your imagination, and that's all there is to it.

Got all three!

I'm just wanting to know how to AT LEAST do a decent Main Hall that WORKS. I tried following the B5 boys' small guide that they included with the initial release - but it didn't work....

The Interface I think is the only area in FS2 modding that hasn't really been given much attention - that and sound/music.

Only table I don't truly know are the ones that aren't really organized (Like teh ones that just have numbers, and no text). Like menu.tbl and a couple others. Mainhall is a little hard to get at first, but just read the comments and the parameters and the little developer blurbs, and you're fine.

The real problem I found is that it defaulted to the original mask, even though I'd made a new one, and used the same name.......or doesn't it work like that?

And yes, I used the correct RGB values.
