just posting things as they come up in the meeting.
Bobboau: we need to get togther so we can get you using CVS :)
Name the time and place and program of choice :)
-
could we just discuss things here?
other than confedintial info (passwords etc), I'm sure other people would like to know this stuff to,
as of now I have win CVS, and that's it,
from what I've seen it is a shell for a comand line CVS that I don't think I have
-
it's sorta an iterative thing.
"Does this work?"
"No"
"How about this?"
That sort of thing ;)
-
Still putting up a post about it afterwards is good idea.
We perhaps should have our own cvs manual, since most the sutff we deal with could be writen in one page, rather than leaving people to get lost in the official cvs manual.
Bob, did you get that e-mail I sent to you about cvs?
I may have closed the winodw before it actually went.
-
Bobboau: Have you downloaded this:
http://fs2source.warpcore.org/CVS.zip
That is an updated batch file (all with me, can the SCP get access to the HLP site???), it should be self explanatory for downlaod and setting up the first time.
Committs we can deal with after you have your code merged with that CVS download :)
-
"could not find out home directory"
were am I suposed to put the directory were I want this to go
I'm guessing that's what the error means
-
Is that from the batch file?
I'm on ICQ, I can walk you thru some things if you like?
-
yup, from the bat, I don't have ICQ any more, it never worked well, and I generaly don't like IM programs,
I can't realy do this right now though
-
You're making it very difficult to help you ;) You don't use email, you don;t use chat, is there anything besides this forum that you will use?
I am on IRC as well, irc.maxgaming.net:6667 #fs2source, you can use the chat applet on the SCP site here, so you don;t have to install any software. Look for "EdGardner-MGT"
Hell, I'll give you my cell number if it will make this any easier.
-
Just fyi, I could never get the bat file to work either. But if i used the commands from the FSSCP web site and replaced 'anonymous' with my username, it worked:
cvs -d:"pserver:[email protected]:/home/fs2source/cvsroot login
enter password
cvs -z3 -d:"pserver:[email protected]:/home/fs2source/cvsroot co fs2_open
Hehe, ignore the " symbol in the command. I put that there to get rid of the smiley! :sigh:
-
Wierd, maybe the bat is broken, I was pretty sure I tested it (I know the one on the HLP site is broken (*AHEM* REMINDER I STILL NEED ACCESS TO THAT), but the one that I linked to should work.
Barring success with the batchfile itself, it DOES include the vanilla CVS executeable, so Righteous1's instructions should do the trick.
Basically, you need to download our CVS source, make your changes to that copy, then committ from that copy. No real good way to merge existing local copies and maintain integrity of the stuff in CVS now.
-
Ah, I think it was the HLP batch file I was trying to use. Yours may be fine.
-
I'll download it here and give it a whirl :)
I'm just hoping I get someone's attention so I can update the HLP site :)
-
I'm home now, I'm trying to get into that IRC but it doesn't seem to want to load, wait... I have not registered ...
ok well what is the
could not find out home directory
thing, it won't let me do anything
-
You don't need to register??????
-
ok give me a direct link, maybe I'm outing it in wrong
-
Watching ER with wife.
This is why I advocate chat programs, real time communication ;)
http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/fsscp/irc.shtml
Should get you into IRC.
-
ok I'm in,
would you like me to wait untill ER is over :)
-
I'm in the irc... still
-
I pasted all my WinCVS configs there, but got no response, the server may have barfed, I'll re-paste them here later.
Right now, wife wants me to go to bed.
