Ship-wise, what would you like to fly?

Dependes on the legnth of the campaign if it was fairly short is 5 - 10 mission 1 ship wouldbe fine, but if it was longer it "could" get boring, but it would be cool to be the same squad and getting attached to your ship, the only way there would really change ship was if they got an upgrade like herc to herc2, thats what i think anyway :D

Or you can be like me and make one long campaign divided into 6 chapters set in different time periods with the player flying a different ship each chapter :p

So a couple of ships would be ok?

I would like to have something different then always Bombers and Fighters.
I think Blackwater has something like I want to fly...don't know the name of it...

If I should discribe it I would say a smaller version of the Defaint (Star Trek)
or the White Star (B5).
It should have some stronger weapons as a fighter would have, 3-5 Turrets and a bigger secondary loadout then a bomber. The drawback if it would be that it wouldn't handle very well, making it an easy target, but it should still be fast!
I hope you get what I want to say.

At least one bomber and one fighter. Adds diversity.

Fly a larger ship. I know what you mean. I made an Ultra-bomber, the Armageddon. Very slow (35), handles allmost like a cruiser, but has 6 turrets, 1500 shields, 1000 hull, 1 primary, 3 secondary(a ENORMEUS loadout, but can carry no anti-fighter missiles).

P.S. - LtNarol - correct this: And returnED he has

P.P.S. - Unknown Target - Was the SDF-1 o.k.?

3's all you really need, fighterwise. Might put some more in for variety- I don't.

As Sheepy said, it really depends on the length of the campaign. I personally like to have some variety as was done in the main FS2 campaign, but of course, you could just let the player choose.

:wtf: Umm....no

It's grammatically correct, even though the 'And' at the beginning is something you dont usually see except in Bible verses.

I don't think all new ships is needed to make a campaign good. A good story and good missions are more important to me, ships are just a extra. But ofcourse if the campaign is set 200 years after Capella then it would need all new ships. But overall a good storyline and missions are the most important thing.

In theory, this is correct, and I agree with you, but in practice I know that if I downloaded a campaign without any mods whatsoever, I'd be disappointed.

I disagree. What about Aeos Affair?

I disagree in general. Mods are nice but plot and storyline are far more important and I would far rather play a campaign with a good story than one with a passable storyline and mods more impressive than any [V] ever did.

Well, ideally you'd have both, but I personally like mods. I always have done, even though I'm much better at doing stories myself. It's just an personal thing.

Same here. I don't care much for mods except when they contribute to the missions and/or storyline. I have some mods in my campaign, but they are mainly just gameplay balance stuff and things like that intended to complement the missions.

Like i said, if the campaign starts 200 years after Capella then it would be stupid to use the Capella era ships. But even if a campaign that has nothing to do whit Capella or after it then it can be a kick ass campaign whit out any new ships. I only think there should be new weapons/ships if the story line says anything about it. Just like the Avenger gun from FS1 thats a weapon that comes in the story, it's not just a weapon to make people be able to pick more weapons. All is relevant to the story.
And ofcourse Aeolus Afair campaign is very good whit out the mods because the missions where detailed and followed the story.

Me and DC are making a campaign it only has 1 new ship and thats a carrier. KMN made a new one because me and DC couldn't find the right ship from mods already made. But we need it for the story. It wil cotain a few new weapons but we wil explain them during the capaign.

NEW SHIPS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE!

(okay, that's not true. Story and overall game play are, but if without ship modding, I'd be a very bored unemployed  guy) ;)

Two or three ships is all you need: an interceptor, a heavy fighter, and a bomber. :D

:nervous:

The 'and' has nothing to do with it.  Uninvert the sentence: you get "he has returned".  "He has return" doesn't work - you need a past participle.

One uber powerfulship would be cool, but not nessacarily realistic unless it is in the story. I think that you shouldn't change ships unless you change Squadrons in the game or the mission calls for it. If you switch to a bomber squad, you get to fly one bomber or 2 bombers depending on the situation and so on.
