So why leave it open?

:(
I do care! I just saw this thread 2 minutes ago...

Sorry, i didn't even know There was a Prince of the Netherlands and i personally had nothing good to say, so i figured just to not say anything. a First huh? it'll be my last mistake of that kinda, i promise ;)
seriously though, there isn't much to say, is there?
-
You probably didn't know cause Holland has been a democracy for some time now.

Honestly, i think all Royal Systems still in service today are just retarded. No real offense to anyone, especially the Brits here, but The British one is the one that is the most full of BS.. I don't really give a Tigers Crap about who Prince William flogged this weekend or how many children Princess Diana saved..
Basiacally i see it as a Publicity stunt to draw foriegners in to boost economy. It's amazing how they can always find new things about Diana's love life after she's been dead for what, 3, 4 years now?
The only Royalty that ever made since belonging in the 20th century to me was The Chinese one. Simply because, you never heard of their Sex Life, and they were called Dynasty's. That just sounds cooler than "Royal Family"
:doubt:

well, a royal family that doesn't rule has no point, that's for sure.

Now, my old man's a staunch anit-royalist, and when him and a load of guys from his office had to meet one of our random princes one time he was agonising over wether to
a) Agree to bow and kotow and what have you, to please the boss or
b) Stick to his principles and kick the prince in the nads
He still has his job, so I'll let you decide which path he chose... not that he was happy about it...
Oh, and for the record, I'm far to lazy to worry about politics but if I did I'd be after the Royal Family with an axe and a bundle of red sticks marked 'ACME' sellotaped to an alarm clock...

All flames,
So any admin can close this if they want.

I find this lack of respect very concerning.
Just so that you know, this ISN'T a politics thread. So please... If it isn't too much trouble, don't flame. I'm not asking yu to feel sorry for the guy but please no flaming. Someones death is always (Almost always) an event that should not be clouded by any other events esspecially politics.
Tiara has spoken.
UGH!

I find your devotion to the idea that one family is some how more important than everyone else a lot more dsturbing. Yes, it's unfortunate he died as it is when anyone dies so let his friends and relatives pay their respects in private.

Its not your average familly...It's the Royal familly.
Almost everyone showed some respect when the Queen mother died. But i can't see anything from that in this thread. Btw..this was the husband of Queen beatrix. Wonderfull people they are.

I didn't. And since I was on a field trip in Scotland at the time of the funeral, I didn't even get the day off, which quite frankly is the most appealing aspect of the Royal Family.
Half-hearted apologies to those who take offense.
This topic's so getting closed...

You know, I didn't post anything because there's next to nothing to say. Some other Netherlanders have been talking about this on some other boards I go to, and it seems he was much loved in his country, but sorry, I just don't know anything about him and can't get any real info on him, in order to form an opinion in the first place...
