Title: Twisted Infinities Mods - First Views
Post by: Black Wolf on October 07, 2002, 12:50:15 pm
Well, here you go. Your first glimpse at the mods we'll be using in Twisted Infinities. These two are only a start, we have several more ready to be shown, and even more planned, but if I gave them all to you at once, it might be hazardous to your mental health or something. Anyway...

This was VAs first attempt at Painting textures onto a UV map, so we're quite proud of him.

This was my first attempt at painting a texture onto a UV map. :D We aren't quite so proud of me any more. I do icons, interface, FRED, mission scripting, story work...but I won't be texturing again after they all see this ;). (Don't worry though, hopefully someone will repaint it for us before the campaign gets released.)

More to come soon hopefully. Watch this space! :D

I know. Twas my first attempt, and the model's being prettied up a bit, so it may end up looking better (Will be retextured). I only posted it so as not to be posting a single image.

LOL, flipside said the same thing in the internal, the aztec *new* model was built in a mid-school-term rush and so was not all that good. it was also based on a very old model i made before i knew a quater of blenders functions. and it was my guinnea pig at actually uv mapping a ship since it had large flat faces to work with.
i think i'll get that interceptor fully pof-ed today if no one has any (not tooo major) suggestions on it's textures. :)

When you finalize them, tell me, and also tell me the number of primary/secondary ports, and I'll make up all the loadout screens and stuff, and we'll have our second player flyable ship :).

I told you I had a few more up my sleeve, this time it's Flipsides Modding prowess on display

The Tyr classlight interceptor. It will be player flyable in the campaign, but will primarily be used by the Opposition, pirates, mercenaries, etc.

A Pirate Strike bomber, currently unnamed, designed to take down the subsystems of freighters and small capships - in other words, it won't be packing very heavy bombs. Currently not player flyable, but hey, anything could happen :).

BTW, Serge and VAs Proteus will be player flyable, in fact we have to have several misions based around flying this thing. 'Twill be sweet :).

Anyway, I have two more pics to post, but lets just hold off on them for a little while shall we? :drevil:

Bump.

Come on guys, we want to hear what people think :). I've decided against posting the last two, until I get either a direct OK from Flipside, or we have some screenshots. Until then, comment, comment!

Is like one day you were in a good mood to make textures and another day in not so good,   The bomber and interceptor,  the textures are very detailed,   or maybee done by other people.    :)

But both new models say that they were textured by flipside :wtf:

Anyway. I like the pirate bomber a lot  but the tyr need a little more detail. It's a bit bland to be honest. Nice shape though.

The inteceptor fo Flipside is...well...flat?
I don't realy like the design...something is missing. Give it an other texture and say its a stealth interceptor. That would make sence since the ships has a very small shape.
The pirate bomber...realy nice, I like it very much and want to see it in action.
Hope to see more of your work in the futur.

I think they all look very privateer 2 ish, not bad but they don't have any meat... (although you all proably say that about my models... )

The Tyr isn't a GTVA Craft - it's a converted pleasure craft. That's why it looks undetailed - all the bits that would typically make up detail (working bits) have been covered up for appearance. And we can't make it a stealth interceptor, as it already has a set purpose as a pirate/mercenary fighter, and will be the primary fighter of the opposition. We need it :).

Yes, capships will be around. We currently have I think about 4 or 5 in production, but some of them are civillian (still big, but not exactly (military) capital ships), and some are only in a model stage, but at least three are textured and they look very nice. We will probably show these at some point soon, but trust me, TI will feature new capships - quite a few actually (check out the site, you'll soon figure out why :D)

Well, you guys owe me for this, as I don't technically have word for word permission to show this off. I have a general sort of permission, and I'm technically in charge and...meh. This thing's sweet. Have a look.

You wanted megafreighters? You got 'em! :D (Well technically, we got 'em. But when TI's finished, you'll have them too! Yayyyy! Isn't that nice? :))

Oh yeah, does anyone have any naming suggestions for the strike bomber? (For a bomber) It's fast, light, and highly illegal. Final naming rights go to Flipside, but suggestions are welcome :).

I love the use of dildos on this ship.

I like the general design of that ship, but are these "things" for anything specail? Are that dockingpoints or some liquide tanks? If that are liquide tanks I would make them smaller

Thats what I think too.

The Atlantis is a multi-role freighter, often it is used to resupply civilian installations, saving the need of using muliple Gas Miners and Freighters. The GTVA even use them on occasion to resupply dstroyers etc. That is why the Atlantis has those 'Gas' tanks (I won't even TRY to make a joke about 80M long dildos) on the front, and cargo pods to the rear :) Some would say this is putting all your eggs in one basket, but statistically, it is easier to defend one large target than multiple smaller ones, and the Atlantis is not entirely  defenceless.
As for the Tyr, well, it was my first model, hence the simplicity of it :) Anyway, Tyr are multi-environment ships, often taking off from planets, since even rich-kids can't get daddy to buy them a destroyer for Christmas ;) So the Tyr HAS to be aerodynamic, and with a lot of it protected from the elements. That's my excuse, and I'm stickin to it.

hehehehehe

Yep, she will (hopefully) have the full 10 subsytems, 6 tanks, two cargo pods, the living quarters and the hull :)

Another of Vasudan Admiral's mods that we'll be using, quite possibly the first FS ship (to my knowledge) designed with an entirely civillian purpose - these are private yachts, transports and mobile homes for the filthy rich.

We're still busily working away, so keep an eye out :).
