Title: Flash, of the Macromedia variety.
Post by: Petrarch of the VBB on October 07, 2002, 01:33:14 pm
I really want to learn flash, but it is so prohibitivley expensive, is there a trial version that is a sensible size file? I think the one on macromedia's site is 48meg, and I'm dammned if i going to download that on a 56k modem! Anyone know if it's been on any mag coverdiscs or something?

You know, I think by this point my mere presence in these sorts of threads would be enough to indicate what I recommend doing about it...

No, not really. Macromedia's trial versions suck.

macromedia's trial versions do suck, but find the full version, it's well, well worth it

Ever tried 3d flash animator? It is a 3d modelling program + flash animator in 1 package.

(Not the best modelling program though :p)

but it's not true Flash, it's like using Coffeecup firestarter, which saves to SWFs, but isn't true flash

*ahem*

You meant "buy", not "find".

And that wasn't a question. :D

How much does it cost, then?

A dollar says it's more than you can afford

Now taking bets, odds two-to-one it's too much.

If enough people bet, I can buy 3DS MAX finally, and get rid of the bastard nonfunctional warez version!

Warez: For when you're too poor to afford programs that cost more than your house, and were printed for $.10 apiece.:D

hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

And Sandwich, note what i said:

it's not like i said download it, i said FIND it... and you DO have to find it, because they don't sell Flash at most computer software stores!  Also, if i meant download it illegally, i wouldn't have said "it's well, well worth it".  by that i meant it's worth paying the money for it... i don't mean it's well worth downloading it
:doubt:

don't worry, i agree that in this case it's much better to pay money for the program!

The trial version is the full version... at least up till 5... im not sure about that new one with the fancy "f" as the logo. So if you like graham crackers, just go get some and make yourself a graham cracker house. Sure you cant live in it, but you can load it with electrodes and run small animals through it.

 That would have been quite subtle if it wasn't so completely unrelated to anything else. ;)

And thus far my searches have yielded no.........'cost reduction programs/tools', so it's safe to say that if you want a full version you'll have to buy it.

that's because it's a brand new program... there will be "discounts" within the next few months i'm sure.

No, that's because an0n wasn't looking in the right places... Macromedia project... widely anticipated... timed demo... expensive as all get-out... you know?;)
