ahem...PORT!! :D

er, well, nm.  My roomie's got a PS2, so I don't mind a no-PC release, but it would be nice...

And dave, how hard would it be to convince THQ to pick up the Freespace rights/license?  Or are they more interested in the console market?  Or do you know?

DaveB...

Could you be persuaded to give the minimum system requirments for Red Faction II...  Would really like to know if i`m running fast enough... I`ve played Red Faction and it`s a great game... Oh, and, hi daveb....

Whee! DaveB started a thread!

RF2... bleh... at least the press likes it.

Is this gonna be Q and A time about FS3... again? :sigh:

Post by: JC Denton on October 07, 2002, 08:07:55 pm
No, just pestering 'em to con THQ into getting the FS rights/license/whatnot...;)

And I think they said console-only.  Which sux for the vast majority of us here that lack access to a PS2. :(

In fact, maybe half the people here don't have the computer to run RF2, if it ever were ported.  If UT2003 needs a 733mhz proc, RF2'd prolly need 800mhz or better bare minimum.  (conjecture, of course)

There are about 6 of 'm already. They don't support too many games and you need a good computer to run them smoothly. Also you will never be able to reach the actual PS2 quality.

I'm comming round all your houses to replace your PS2s with GameCubes. And to steal your cookies while I'm there.

Nice, shame it will never get published around here. Sony didn't really bother to release the PS2 here on Brazil, and I only got one 'cause Shrike smu... er, I mean, imported one for me. PS2 games are hard as hell to find too, specially the good ones...

YAY!!! RFII is complete. Summoner 2 is complete. Now you have no more projects. Now is time for FS3 (hint!). Go make it.

THQ
Volition

I hate THQ so much. MTV is now being spammed with the Britney Spears game :mad2:  and of course it's credited to THQ. To hell with them. Sorry I just had to let go of a little steam here. I am just pissed because we are never gonna get FS3. If there is any game I dedicate most of my spare time to, then that's Freespace 2.

MTV blows now. I have nothing real against legit rap and i don't want to sound like everyone else, but like everyone says , you can  go too far with bad music, and they have. For a while now. I turn on MTV and its some rapper who has the same videa as the other (the one with the club and the bouncer who doesn't let one guy in cuz he's 18) or its Justin Faggotlake from GetBent..

and yes i just relaized that was entirely off topic...:doubt:

I got this great idea!

let's go to a forum that's main focus if making mods for PC games, and make some inane one word announcement for a console game who's predecessor was abandoned supportwise!

Because the whole point of it was including geo-modding. About the only thing RF had going for it, IMHO.

well.....havent we all already heared the geo-mod issue, and the comon responce to it was, so what? woob woob geo-mod... bah.

i sez... :v: , if your going to even consider anything, consider a full spectrum of console (consoles as in everything from PS2->PC) converstions as well as considering assisitng us in a FS port heheh using red faction engine....:p

Developing for a PS2 is totally different from developing for a Game Cube or developing for an Xbox or developing for a PC or developing for a friggen SGI, Alpha or HP PA-RISC.

They're all completely different with the minor problem consoles used very closed and tight technology.  You're better off spending all your time developing for one platform - and in this instance THQ obviously got some help from sony or had already purchased devkits for about ....$20,000 USD or however much it is now (plus that and they have to use Maya for GAMES dev work..bleurgh)

From a buisiness perspective it makes sense to use the resources you have rather than investing in a totally new pipeline.

IMO its better for them to develop on an open system to start with rather than a closed one, but since i'm not a clueless THQ exec i don't pull the strings.
