I guess it is time to open up my long-standing project that no one has ever heard of to others and start getting some help with it.
The Scroll of Atankarzim (http://www.angelfire.com/space/sesquipedalian/) is a Vasudan campaign I've been working on for quite some time. I have about a dozen missions done now, but if I'm ever going to complete it, I need more FREDders to work with me! Also, a modeller is needed to do a couple not-so-strenuous jobs so that the mods can be finalised.
I've just applied for hosting here on HLP, so hopefully we shall get a forum sometime soon.
Anyone interested in joining the project can email me at [email protected], or pm me, or both. :)

Oh. I was kinda hoping we were gonna have a net-outing for a minute...

*was ready to have first field day since 7th grade*

Some screenshots would be nice

Great, looks like another Vausdan campaign out there. (I thought mine was the only one :D) A bit more on the story, perhaps?
-
Screenies: That's a good idea. :D
Condensed verion of the story's beginning:
An oddly behaving unstable jump node is found in Beta Cygni which turns out to be maintained by a malfunctioning Knossos on the far side. The GTVA needs to take control of the device lest the Shivans find it first and use it to enter our space again. But once control of the operation of the Knossos has been secured and the resource-rich systems lying beyond it have been discovered, the GTVA gets greedy and tries actually to wrest the systems from the scant Shivan presence in the area. The rest is for me to know, and you not to.
The scroll referred to by the title is the record of Vasudan scribes writing after the event. The whole campaign unfolds as an enactment of the words of the Scroll (which, incidentally, allows me lots of opportunity for foreshadowing, symbolism, and so on when writing up the passages from the Scroll to go in the command briefings), as the Vasudan scribes relate the history of the Atankarz'ythi and how they came to be. Who are the Atankarz'ythi? Well, one won't find out their story until one has played the campaign.

I thought you wanted to confess something or what...:D
I think the story is great. When do you expect it to be available for download? And I mean the final version.:)
-
waaaaaaaaaaaaaait that page looks familiar...
its been 8 years... looks the same as it did back then
an Corel Wordperfect generated page *shudder*

Mine is about killing Vasudans, does that count? :drevil:

I confess to loving Gouda cheese.
I'm glad you like the premise. It is only scratching the surface, however. I've done my best to create a sci-fi story with the overtones of grand epic literature, and the plot elements are derived from that genre. It ought to be good, I hope. :)
As for final availability, that depends largely on how many Fredders want to assist. The mod work is mostly done, so it is largely just a matter of producing the missions. I currently project approximately 40 of them, and I have 12 done (though a couple of the early ones need reworking) and one under construction.

Screenies (http://www.angelfire.com/space/sesquipedalian/screenshots.htm)!
-
I took a look at the S.A. website and all I can say is:
Geez, I think FREDders are going to start coming at a premium now, considering all the proposed campaigns in the works now...
Which reminds me...I better start hustling if I want to get more FREDders working for me!
-
whats with the last one... it looks like your in orbit.
-
It is on the edge of a proto-system, where most of the orbiting matter has not coalesed into planets, but is still floating in a dust cloud. I included that shot to show off one of the cool new backgrounds that will be in S.A.

nice changes to the hud, me like
-
*justs notices screenies*
niice. I like the design of the ship you are flying, at least the Shield ani's.
Last pic of the Demon looks sweet. :)
HUD changes? What HUD changes?

Knight Templar, that fighter the player is flying in Sesq's screenies is the GVF Shu, a newly MODded Vasudan fighter. The Shu is also going to be featured in DatDB as well (along with another Vasudan fighter-- oops! I've said too much!). ;7 :)
I think the hud changes LtNarol was referring to was the targeting cross on the target selection display in the lower right corner of the screenies. I'd give my left gonad to know how Sesq did that... :drevil::wtf:
...On second thought, no, I wouldn't! :p :D
-
hehe sweet. Hey what would you say if i had two shu's on my feet right now?!? (ok that sucked.. *crouches down in corner and hides*)
I see it now, so its just to look cool, or does it do something?
-
IIRC, in DatDB, the Shu is supposed to be a replacement for the old GVF Thoth. The Shu is a space superiority fight, I think.
I dunno what Sesq plans to do with it in S.A. but, then again, he hasn't volunteered many details for his campaign (which is the right thing to do. God knows I'm playing my cards close to my chest!). :D
-
What I like the best, so far from what i've seen (besides the nice open, opportune story:) ) about DatDB is the nice Big Map :D
-
The big map is actually a new version of a map that John Handy made for Incidental Warfare, once upon a time. I had Sheepy modify it for DatDB.
Oh, and most of the action in the DatDB campaign takes place in Shivan space. Any action that takes place in the big Terran-Vasudan space map only happens if you royally screw up...:nervous:
-
What ever happened to Incidental Warfare, didn't it go down too?

Hey Sesq, glad to see you've made the announcement. Remember, you're going to have to make updates to your page. That's why it's good to have a small campaign after you've done the main work--like me. :) I'll FRED for you occasionally.

That's its purpose in S.A. as well. In fact, S.A. is what I made it for. (And isn't DatDB grateful that I was so generous as to release it? ;) )
