I personally like Enterprise series. More modern than the original series even though it is set before the first Enterprise 1701-A. It has a lot of story and the characters are very well depicted in the series. Also, it shows how Vulcans think and interact.
I would like to see the Voyager series too. Too bad they don:t show it here in Singapore.:(
-
Ya know, there are more than three ST movies. My favorite of which would be Wrath of Khan.
As for the series, I've never seen DS9, so I can't speak for it, but even in the general naiveté of the entire show, I still like TNG the best. Followed closely by Enterprise, because it is finally getting on the road of sci-fi, instead of a happy fairy tale.
-
DS9 was only really any good after the fourth season started, what with the war and all, but after that it was great. I do like Voyager, thought they have a habit of writing lame-ass charcter-based episodes instead of ass-kicking explosion epsiodes. And, of course, Jennifer Lien is |33+ ;7 That said, 'Scorpion' was fantastic
-
Yahuh, DS9 was best series IMHO. However, ST II: WOK/ III: SFS was best movie(s). I mean... just listen to the sound track alone. :)
"Kirk's Exploisive Reply"
"Bird of Prey Decloaks"
.........

The Original Series here, A lot of people ***** about Kirks sexism etc... but I just love the humor, it's still lost none of its punch after all this time. I love it.

That aside, anything involving the pre-wimpified Borg ruled.
I haven't seen either DS9 or Voyager all the way through - I'm working on DS9 with my brother, watching 1-3 episodes every few days. :) We got up to 2x08 (inclusive) last night. :D
I love KazaaLite. :D

Can't believe how badly they ruined the Borg... :(

The more i watch ST now, the more it annoys me. Stupid technobabel and its always "lets find a nice peace, ethical, politically correct solution to everything". Still Enterprise is the best of the lot really.
-
Besides STII WOK was awesome. The starship combat was best yet, Kirk's family problems, Spock killed off, GENESIS!, The awesome music and nebula fight music (I used it when I recreated that scene in Klingon Academy with Wimamp) ;7
BTW reliant got her A$$ kicked!, and later I killed kirk , then Sulu (but Sulu was harder to kill, damn good helmsman in his day)... I dropped a Genesis device on Earth for the glory of the Empire!
Damn I'm so hyped up I'm wave capturing like crazy baby! Someone revive the Star Trek mod! (Make it so, Mr. Tricorder!) :wtf:
Other than that I love anyting ST...
Now if only we can get back Space 1999 and Buck Rogers!
-
I voted TNG, but I also wuv TOS.
actually, I think I'm a sucker for all of them. Haven't seen DS9 or Enterprize yet tho.

Try Babylon 5, it doesnt suffer from that much. A few years ago when I felt the same way about ST it was a great alternitive. Takes about 5 episodes to get into it though.
Hardly any technobabel and lots of nice death and destruction to keep it dark. Babylon 5's idea of peace is a skirmish invloving less than 20 ships.

I like them all equally, even Enterprise. I guess thats because I just take it as it is without trying to figure out how it all fits into the greater Trek scheme of things and as such am able to enjoy it more than those who scrutinise every little thing and complain when it doesn't fit in. I understand why the fans ***** about certain things (particularly in Enterprise. There's enough material in that time period with the Romulan war and all to make a fairly decent series without having to butcher established Trek precedents) and while it does bug me somewhat, I don't let it interfere with my enjoyment of the series.
-
Your not appealing to everyone here. You left out the option "Star Trek sucks you stupid trekkie nerd lumps of crap!!"
-
Enterprise has Star Wars Ep1 and 2 syndrome.
i.e. incontinuity.
In TOS klingons are discovered by the Fed FOR THE FIRST TIME! Yet in the first ep of Enterprise what do we have but Klingons! Archer's Enterprise is 150 older than Kirk's but looks 200 years more advanced. They have to press a button to open the doors, but even today we have doors that open as you approach! There are ferengi in it, and they didn't come in until Picard's era! In Picard's ready room he has a plaque of all the ships called enterprise. It goes straight from the present day carrier to NCC1701, where's Archer's ship?
I could go on.

Er, nope. In TOS, it was established that there had been a disatarous first contact with the Klingons, and several skirmishes of varying degrees led to the formation of the Klingon Neutral Zone (I think - my TOS is a little hazy)

Somewhere, I assume either the ready room or the conference room, is a model of a ship that was none of the Enterprises, or the carrier or the shuttle. Turns out, Rodenberry designed it for a ST series that he never made... or at least, he never saw made.
Tell you what else, it worries me slightly to think that E:FC was written back in the 60's... course, I don't imagine Rodenberry ever envisioned it turning so crap after the first season...
-
Remember the DS9 Episode "Trouble with Tribbles Revisited" a tribute to TOS?
Well I was ROTFL when the waitress points to "those Klingons" TOS ones and everyone looks at Worf like :wtf: ?
WORF: "We don't talk about it with outsiders"...
Ok that established something happened between TOS and STTMP... Even Kang, Koloth and the rest appear in DS9 as elderly warriors in one last battle but never explained their physical change?
Now the big kick in the A$$... The Klingon they found on ENTERPRISE is a modern one... :wtf: ?
Ok back up, so you have a modern Klingon in Archer's time. GO back to B &W human looking Klingons for Kirk's time, and back to modern ones for STTMP timeline??? Give me a freaken break. of all the mess ups to me that is the worst!!!
Is Rick Berman involved with ENTERPRISE? (would explain some things)
-

Look, there's nothing they could have done about it. If TOS had had the budget of TNG, no doubt the old-skool Klingons would have had the faces as well. Frankly, the DS9 writers should have chosen a different episode to go back to, one without Klingons...
-
First Contact.
I don't really watch the shows.
-
Early Borg kicking the ass of the Federation: $1 million in damage.
Q messing with everyones head: $20000 in damage.
Everything going over Data's head: Priceless
TNG was teh best, IMO, although my favorite of the movies is WoK. You know something funny about WoK? Khan recognizes Chekov, but Chekov wasn't in "Space Seed".

Priceless, because Khan says to Chekov, "I never forget a face."
He's got a very good memory, you have to admit ;)

That ship appeared in the recreation room on the refitted NCC 1701 Enterprise. According to the literature at the time, it was a Decleration class starliner in service maybe 70 years before 1701 was built. Of course, the writers never give a damn about continuity when ratings and money are on the agenda, so they change the past willy-nilly, and details like that are overlooked.
Contrary to many people, I thought DS9 became worse as it went on. The stories became so soapish I had to make sure I hadn't tuned over to some crap like Neighbours. There was plenty of action, "plenty" because they reused scene after scene after scene without at least trying to disguise it. Voyager gave me convulsions during most episodes after a promising start. TOS had some great stories and ideals, though nowadays you have to look past the cheesy effects. The timeline and fan fiction behind that was great - give me that over the aired continuations any day, with maybe the exception of TNG, that was a great series.
Now, I've got a nice big collection of B5 sitting by my bed, undergoing a continuous usage cycle. I have to admit, it has DS9 and Voyager definitely beaten
-
Out of the poor selection, I'd have to say TNG. Nothing has ever topped "Best of Both Worlds".
If I had to pick a movie, I'd have to say ST4: The Voyage Home. "Well double damn on you!" :D And who could forget Spock telling that woman that the whale was pregnant. SCREEEEEEEECH! :p
DS9 was ok. It got lots better when the Dominion showed up. Thats when it really started to shine.
Voyager...what a pile of DREN! B&B took a great concept and frelled it over BIG TIME! Don't EVEN get me started on how incompetant Janeway is let alone the rest of the crew. Didn't remote detonation ever occur to that dumb woman before nuking the Caretaker array?
Enterprise...another pile of dren! This stupid show throws continuity right out the window. I'm waiting for that frelling thing to aquire pulse phasers and transphasic toropedoes and some kind of frelled up batmobile armor.

 :D
So you noticed?
Why can't writers realise the intelligence of the viewer?
-
About the contradictions in Klingon appearance, I seem to recall having read/heard/seen somewhere that it had it's basis in genetic engineering, where the "modern" Klingons are actually the genetically enhanced warrior, where as the more human ones are the natural appearance of the race. I could be quite mistaken though.

c'mon, that's Berman and Braga. You actually expected something excellent after Voyager?
Though, IMHO Enterprise still beats Voyager. Mostly because of Bakula

****, not dren.
Human curses superior!
Anyhow, added an option for TWOK.

Final Frontier, hahha! Who the hell wrote that one? They get kiddnapped by a madman who takes them to see god?!?:wtf:
anyway, the Undiscovered Country is my favourite film, 'cos it has Plummer in it, and Bosch (Fed President). and one of the starfleet admirals is Odo!

I just noticed that nobody voted for the movie Star Trek Generations.
Am I to assume everybody hates that movie??? If so, why? Besides the fact that the Enterprise D gets destroyed...

True true...about the energy thingy...that was crap...but I liked the ship fighting sequences.

First one to get this right gets a cookie.
Where did the Energy Ribbon come from (I know do U?)
I earned that StarFleet Intelligence badge!
-
I know! I know!!
Somewhere from the galaxy, right????:D
Seriously, I have no idea. All I know is that the explosion of a star will cause it to divert from its original course. That's all I know.
-
I must say that out of the Star Trek movies I've watched TNG was the most impressive/interesting/high quality.
First Contact was pretty good but the borg weren't scary - they had a human face pasted on them.
Insurrection.... I didn't like it - just that :p
/me tries to find ST: Nemesis
-
I'm waiting for Star Trek Nemesis too. Should be in Singapore this December. Heard its going to be the last of the Star Trek movies. And the last of the Enterprises.
-
There's a supposed secret screening version floating around, but I've heard it's actually a lion king recording... hmmm that sucks.
Yeah, It seems quite end-like as seen from the trailer that they have - but it would be pretty bad if it was the last star trek movie ever :wtf: I kinda liked the movies...
(they should kill off picard and then hire Robin Williams to do the ship captain :p)
-
Guys, Nemesis will not be the last movie. They have a contract for atleast two more movies.

Does that mean a new Enterprise starship design? I love the Star Trek ships design. Looks fragile but it is powerful.

Nope. They aren't going to blow up the Enterprise again. Its been done twice. A third time would be rather repetitive, don't ya think?
Ohh, and contrary to popular rumors, Data does NOT die, and Lore is not in the movie. The other android you see in the trailer is a prototype Soong-type android. IIRC, its called a beta something. (A little homage to "The Last Starfighter")
-
Whichever one it was where they blew up the people in the giant gas cloud. Of course, thats the only one I've ever seen...it was surprisingly good, though.

Hmmm, which one could that be? TMP? Perhaps. TWOK? Maybe. TSFS? Probably not. TVH? Nope. TFF? Don't think so... TUC? Nahh. Generations? Doubtful, but maybe. FC? No. Insurrection? Another maybe.
Hmmm... which one were you talking about??

The best show is joint TNG and DS9, film, has to be number 6 - it has every thing humor; a space battle; tension; followed very closely by First Contact.
I think he means Wrath of Khan, Sandwhich. Least that's what I think.

I can't believe that the most people voted for ST:TNG. Picard is even worse then Capt. Janeway and her Prime Directive.
TNG sample :
Worf : Sir, they are firing.
*everyone on the bridge shakes*
Worf : Should I return fire?
Picard : No... Hail them 1 more time.
Worf : Sir! They are firing again.
*everyone shakes again*
*picard falls out of his chair*
Worf : Should I fire, Sir?
Picard : Negative. Ensign Crusher, get us out of here. Warp 9.
:p
-
I believe Mr Worf fingers were itching to press the "FIRE" button there....:D
I also believe James T. Kirk would have shot first, talk later.

Kirk Version:
Spock: Captain, we've detec-
Kirk: I know about the Klingons, I've already had Chekov launch a full photon torpedo spread while you were eating your soup & salad.
*Spock raises one eyebrow*
Spock: A highly logical reaction, for a human.
Kirk: Yeah, except for one thing. I was acting, not reacting.
Spock: I stand corrected.
Bones: Well, there's a first!
*Kirk turns around in amusement to observe the impending thrust-parry-lunge between Spock and McCoy*
Spock: Doctor, if you insist on pointing out every single instance when I am proven to be in error-
Bones: Stuff it, Spock - I'm a doctor, not an accounting computer. I don't plan on spending the rest of my days trying to keep up with every time you are "proven to be in error".
Spock: That would be highly illogical. I do not err that frequently.
Bones: Bu-
Uhura: Sir, incoming transmission from Fleet HQ. They demand to know why we fired upon the Klingons unprovoked. They are ordering Enterprise to return to Earth for a Fleet Board hearing!
Kirk: Uhura, aren't you having trouble with your comm system? I seem to recall that you weren't able to receive any transmissions...
Spock: I was not aware of any malfunc-
Kirk: Of course you were, Spock! *clears throat loudly* Remember?
*Spock raises an eyebrow, and turns back to his instruments*
Kirk: Uhura?
Uhura: Uhm... We seem to have had a catastophic, uhhh... catastrophy with the subspace tranceiver, sir. It'll take hours-
Bones: *mumbling* ...days...
Uhura: ...Days to fix!
Kirk: Well, get on it lieutenant. Who know what crucial transmissions we are missing out on - perhaps even at this very moment!

Ow, and he HAS been assimilated by the Borg. You should read some fanfics. They are good. More action!

I don't want to ruin my trek-watcher-yet-non-trek-nerd reputation by reading fanfics.
And the only reason why TNG is worth watching is because of Picard (and the only reason why Ent is worth watching is Bakula/blalock/the guy who plays reed, Voyager ain't worth watching at all, I haven't seen DS9, so the only Trek worth watching for the series is ST:TOS).
DAMN!
I just killed all my arguments with my own logic.
I hate it when that happens.

:blah:
1). ST:TNG equals ST:WUSS
2). ST:Voy equals ST:STUPID PRIME DIRECTIVE
3). ST: DS9 equals ST:FRIGGIN' BIG ASS BATTLE IN THE LAST SEASON
4). ST:TOS equals ST:KICKASS

All the captains have their moments - but they're to forced... as if they have to make a big thing about it simply because it's bending the rules Kirk style.. but it's getting old.
-
So? here's my version of Kirk vs. Picard....
Kirk:
Uhuru: Captain, sensors have detected enemy vessles closing in, they're about to fire!
Kirk: (Pauses to think up some elaborate plan) Alright, Uhuru, open a line with the captain of the enemy fleet.
Uhuru: Channel open, sir.
Kirk: Klingon commander, this is the captain of the USS Enterprise. I will count to 10 and then fire.
Klingon: Scoffs.
Kirk: 1...
Kirk: 2...
Kirk: 3...
Kirk: 4...
Kirk: 10! FIRE!
He blasts evey ship with a three-proton-torpedo spread.
Now Picard, same situation, after he has just radioed the enemy commander...
Picard: 1....
Picard.: 2...
Picard: 3....
Picard: Are you sure we really should be doing this? 4....
Picard: 5....
Picard: 6.... You know, there are alternate paths besides war.
Picard: 7....
Picard: 8....
Picard: I'm really not kidding! 9....
Picard: TEN! Uhhh....
Piacrd: 11.....You know, maybe we should talk this over?
-
Yeah Shatner wrote "The Return" before First contact came out and I thought it was gonna be the movie (cause the book had a sticker on it saying "Now ma major motion picture by paramount" I shoudda grab it!!! It is a collectors item now cause they never made the movie!!!!!! Kirk dies in generations and the Borg grab kirk's body and he gets droned!!! Good story... Lots of stuff happens.
Read the one 6 books later KIRK vs EVIL KIRK!!!1 Spock Meets Evil Spock (or rather reformed evil Spock):) all must fall befoer teh might of the Presevers. Return to the alternate universe. Evil Picard rulz!!!

No, it's more like:
Wesley Crusher: Hmm.... Let's alter this vital file of the main computer.
Later on.....
Picard: Can we settle this peacefully?
Alien: No! We hate you!
Picard: We have no choice then. Worf, fire a full spread of torpedos.
Worf: Sorry captain, the targeting subroutine has been replaced by PacMan.
FF to the end of the show....
Picard: Wesley, I'm dissapointed in you.
Wesley: I'm sorry.
Picard: I'll leave these to the proper authority.
End music.
Better episodes:
Picard: To hell with the Prime Directive.
