You'd need to have an alternate map for each colour scheme, for one thing.... and then some sort of system for assigning the texture map to the ship upon mission start... i suppose it depends when the texture data is read from the pof, and how flexible it is for storing those textures ingame...and also, I suppose, when the game 'fetches' textures (i.e. for arriving ships)....

it could be useful to have a way of defining an alt texture map via the tbl entry (assuming single map ships to make it easier)...but I've no idea how easy that would be.

I know what he's talking about. Like the color schemes used in XvT and XWA, right? FS2 does something similar with Squad Logos.

If there was a way to assign squad logos to wings, that would be nice. Currently Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta all get the logo you're currently using. Assigning logos would mean giving the 99th Skulls their logos in mission, as well as identifying HoL and NTF craft. It would also be a good plot device; you're attacked by a wing of fighters carrying an unknown symbol?
