Title: Presenting the Sechat-Hor
Post by: Woomeister on April 23, 2001, 10:45:00 am
Here's a pic of my latest creation the GVSJ Sechat-Hor, a Vasudan Super Juggernaught.

I still have to add turrets in Truespace 1, and run it through FSMM2. It's 22.2km (slightly smaller than the SSJ Gigas)

Let me guess, It's a combination of a Sobek and a Vasudan cruiser, right? Looking great.

Very cool. Could probably use some more texture details, though.

It's still in the prototype stages. It's a combination of the Sobek and Aten. I want to add more textures eventually.

Dang, that's a big feller.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

By the way, have you considered doing a Shivan Juggernaut/Superjuggernaut with a new design?

It's 2 times wider than the Gigas.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

One day I hope to. It'll be bigger, badder and will have powerfuller weapons than the Gigas.

The Gigas? Yes go to my site (see sig) to get the stable version. It's a bit different to the old one. Only has one weapon, a massive beam capable of wiping out fleets (and planets) I plan on giving this ship the same type of weapon.

The Sechat-Hor looks to be very promising, depending on the final texture design.

I'd actually make a design for your campaign with it's "Giga-Sathani" as well as a design for the standard FS2 universe where it would be a design of Emporer Khonsu kept undercover until a decade after the battle of Capella. (2382) Having it built mainly to destroy several smaller ships, while balancing it would work well. (also "Super Juggernaught?" sounds a little cheesy, I'd look for a new designation if I were you)

Also I hope that the final ship will make full use of subsystems and debris. The top outcropping near the rear of the ship could be used as the bridge, and similarly be destroyed. (also allowing for large hull sections to be blown away would be impressive)

There's only one thing that worries me about ships this big...

You would expect them to be able to carry massive amounts of fighters (probably thousands) but unfortunately, the game can't even handle a hundred. In any large space battle, it would be pretty hard to justify the pitiful numbers of fighters that could actually enter the game.

That said, have you considered making a smaller-scale version of the Sechat? A mere juggernaut size version, maybe?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

The final will have subsystems but not debris, as I can't do them. Same goes for LODS. the back part will be the bridge. It'll have all the standard subsystems as well.

This ship, and an upcomming Terran one, where built after the appearance of the Gigas. They were designed to counteract the threat of a second one. In 2385, these ships and the GTVA flagship are sent into Shivan space on a search and destroy mission. They, of course are no match for the Gigas and its Ancient Sathanas escort.

These ships don't have fighter bays. They are planet destroyers which require escort.

The Gigas has the Ancient Sathanas.
The Upcomming Terran one has the Colossus
And I'll have a go at a Vasudan Juggernaught for this one.

I liked the other color scheme more, with the more yellowish textures. And the cruiser "arms" look too round (probably just the shading), that destroys the feeling a little bit.

Setekh i though u gave it to Robin Varley cos hes got sum of my models or was it the Shivan ones you gave him? Anyway i see the point of the Gigas the plant killer, but i don't think that giving the terrans and vasudans one cos then that would make the GTVA and shivans equal which i don't think is right cos the Shivans are supposed to be thousands of years more advanced, Don't get me wrong its a brilliant ship why not have it a normal jugger?

The Gigas is a planet destroyer. This ship is designed to defend planets against it. It's not as advanced as the Gigas. Think bit like Colossus to Sathanas.

I'll do full views once it's more complete.

Woo I just got a cool idea. You see the arms of the Sechat-Hor? If you open them up just a little bit, like crab claws. Vuala! You have two cap-ship destroying beam cannons! Just need to place the turrets.

I like the design, but personally, I would have made the "sobek nose" much bigger (longer maybe), but that's a question of "taste"  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

To make the nose bigger, I'd have to make the ship smaller. It would become bigger than the Gigas. Which I don't want it to be.

I understood it this way: to make the nose bigger (longer) would mean to make the entire model bigger (longer), meaning he had to downscale it so it wouldn't be bigger (longer) then the Gigas  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Because so many people start mods, but then give up. I just like to know whether I can still expect to see them, or if they have given up, etc. Besides, Captain need to know what's going on, aren't I right CptWhite?
