37.998 polys. not all suggestions can be implemented because of poly count and boolean difficulty.

who needs boolean for that? if you want engraved details, just extrude splines ;)
for polycount, I guess the sword won't be unsed in an animation or anything? 38000 polys is really not the highest you can go for that kind of model then :)
nice design otherwise, the guard ( english? ) is too thick tho.

Needs a grip. Right now, if your hand gets wet or bloody, its going to become very slippery. Not bad, Carl.

use shapemerge and extrustion/bevel instead of booleans ;)

i'm not using the booleans for that. i'm using them so make the designs on the handle. if i made them textures they wouldn't be scaleable.

besides, truespace doesn't have shapemerge.

the guard on the sword looks too... rectangular - it might be good to make it thinner and rounder

Otherwise, really cool looking sword :)

the sword should have metallic reflection. Itlooks like its made out of plastic right now

the blade is a near perfect mirror. it's almost completely black, with reflection at 90%

my latest addition to my collection is this like 5 foot long katana.  actually it's probably more... i have to hold it with two hands... but it's awesome
