Title: Turret woes
Post by: jonskowitz on August 21, 2001, 12:11:00 pm
I've got turrets working (well, mostly) in my "Starfighter: Final Days" TC, but they only seem to work for AI pilots.  Not good when one of the bombers has no cannons except for turrets!

BUMP

um.... does it not fire atall?  Does the ship have the bomber tag and turret entries... try stopping dead and checking the exterior view - and look at a V bomber like the Medusa to check it's entries.

That's odd, try calling in a suport ship and let it rearm you.
Sounds stupid I know, but if you go into a level with no weapons and do that (Normally happens when screwing up weapon or ship tables) the ship will give you the full default loadout.  And it may fix your turret too by giving it a prometheus or something.

Can't hurt to try.

It does not track targets or fire.  The ship in question does have the "bomber" flag.  All submodel and table entries seem to be correct (checked them against entries for both the Medusa and the Ursa).  The wierd part is that it works properly if flown by the AI (?!?).  It just does not seem to work for actual player pilots.  It might be worth while to grab a copy of it and check it out yourself. (a demo version of the mod is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JSKGames-public/files/ ("http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JSKGames-public/files/")  ).  It's not the newest version of it, (no cruisers /cap-ships) but there's enough of it there to give a general impression of it (still have a ton of work to do to it yet, hell the models aren't even textured yet).
