Title: Something I noticed about the Apollo
Post by: Solatar on October 28, 2002, 06:05:50 pm
I was trying to get a new skin on an Apollo, and I noticed in the second detail level instead of having the two gun mounts under the cockpit. It has missile bays! Just like in the fs1 opeing cutscene.

second level of detail is not supposed to have any gun points. Anyways, this probably wasn't worth a thread.

This just makes it look like the Apollo was going to be a bomber ( Which it was, some :v: guy said it ). Maybe the Ulysses was going to be the Terran fighter, model name, fighter01.pof. Or maybe the Hercules was going to be the main fighter. Both mainhalls definately have quite a few of them.

Ulysses was the first fighter designed for FS1... apparently they hadn't nailed down the style of fighter they wanted then, so (when the other ships were turned out looking vastly different) they made it a hybrid.

you know you piss me off?

anyway, if you look at all the maps in freespace2, you'll notice a lot of funny/odd/interesting details. Some might even give you nice ideas for future skins or models, so it's worth looking at them all when you have no idea :)

Well i can't model, or skin. But I am trying out my first reskin ( Not really that much, just a crappy Apolloy bomber variant ).
