Title: The Elders Scrolls 3: Morrowind
Post by: Stunaep on November 02, 2002, 03:31:43 pm
I just can't help it. I know we've been through this so many times, but I just played the game at a friends house (my own PC still not being able to run it), and OMG!!! That game has DA BEST soundtrack evar! I just listened to the theme song for about ten minutes, cuz it was SO GODDAMN GREAT! The graphics seemed, well, solid, but no :jaw: , cause I just finished playing NOLF 2 before getting to Morrowind. The graphics in NOLF 2 were just better. Overall, I'm just amazed of the effort Bethesda has put into this, not to mention that I am a fan of the original (well, not so original) Daggerfall.

That was freakin' good.

I agree. But the game engine is crap. It sucks all your PC's resouces but graphix is...not so good. just look at those character models. ugh

Awesome game, but the combat seems a little lacking - basically my only complaint other than the journal but they're fixing it up in Tribunal... I really want to see sotha sil. :D (of course I've still got to finish Morrowind... :p)

Yeah, PC Gamer revealed some problems that put me off.

True, the combat does only consist of chosing your slashes while also dodging and placing your attacks in the right spots ;) j/k (Yes you can just run up and hack and slash, but to effectively fight you need to be mobile and also choose which blows to give at the right time and timing them between the opponent's recovering from their swings/blows, etc.)

Honestly though, check some other reviews than PC Gamer or check the Morrowind website. PC Gamer reviews are infamous in recent years of picking a game for it's bugs while then giving it a high review and not explaining why other than in a short sentence. Also the screenshots they gave were crap compared to what you'll actually see in game. (ahhh the city of Vivec and it's cantons...)

My only real gripes with Morrowind were the journal, map, and lack of henchmen, which have all been fixed for Tribunal so now I'm a happy camper.

For a slightly better idea of the graphics (I need a new PC to really get the detail shining on the character models) here's some pics:

My Orc Nerevarine, member of the Mages Guild and House Hlaalu. Excellent at hand to hand combat, the magicka school of destruction, and speechcraft. This shot is of him doing morning excercises within my stronghold. (including my collection of books such as the Brief History of the Empire and the Real Barenziah series)

My Dunmer "churchie" a zealot in the Tribunal Temple, she's a real nut for ALMSIVI propaganda :p

Well I didn't really like vivec, personally the city with the skar (emperor crab shell) looked the coolest... what was it called again?

and of course the mods, some of the mods are sweet - so sweet you'll never adventure without them :D Some of my favorites are the various house mods, which give you a nice residence to use.

I like RPG's but somehow I never got into Morrowind. :(
:blah:

I like more Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights style RPG's.

I don't deny that Morrowind is not a good game, it is just no MY game. I prefer the three titles above. :)

I agree. I have almost the whole collection: Baldur's Gate, BG 2, ID etc. Just finished BG and gotta say that the final battle with Sarevok was too easy. I hoped a great challenge.

Not to mention that the entire Diablo franchise (D1, D2,plus the infinite number of rip-offs) is based on that.

No, my main character was an elf archer. I also had Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc and Dynaheir. And Sarevok was easy. Very easy.

And you say it was hard. let me guess, you didn't walked though all the areas south to Baldur's Gate?

I could post some neat screenshots if ye want?
