Hmmm, I dunno... the lack of lighting on the Galatea seems to contradict the lighting on the planet (Arrakis, anyone? :p ).

The perspective is also kinda.... fishy. ;)

The Ship's angle has her looking a bit distorted to me.

And what's so bad about flaming pear done BGs? For ppl just getting into rendering I wouldn't expect them to completely model and render a nebula :)

Looks alright to me. Kind of like a higher res FS1 background.

Sand...if you have any luck with that .... lemme know,...I've tried the neb as well as the phaser and photon torp tuts there with no luck at all :(

My torp came out looking like a North Star on crack :D  I think it was really written for either an older or newer version of max than 3.1

Hehehe - will do, but you know, there's always either Photoshop or Illusion... Here's some examples of both:

Photoshop - my memory is horrid, or I would give credit to the person who rendered the original Enterprise here, but I forget who it was. Anyway, I simply added a phaser in Photoshop.

Second, an example of what kind of animation work can be done in Illusion - a number of examples, actually. :D

I've got some semi-decent nebula results by just using an inferno lensflare on a light.....

What's so hard about slapping a noise map in the background?

Hehehe Well first you use FlamingPear and build a nice looking Neb then using PSP or any other PaintProgram that has a tool called Pinch or something like it .... Group an area at the center of the Image and just pinch it ...easy.........8) and Iam glad to be back haha
