I'd like to make a cannon similar in style to the awesome pulsar however, i want it to freeze the enemy fighters... Is their away to disable their engines Temporary. Or how bout to freeze them in a rendered solid block of ice?? or with ice covered hulls or something?

use the "electronics" flag.

you could replace the explosion avi with a frost burst. That would look cool.
Make the damage to systems only and the blast should take out all of a fighters substems.

Not trying to shoot the idea down, but what would be the point of a "Frost Cannon" in the near-absolute zero temperature in vacuum space? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

perhaps not 'frost' but and 'anti energy' burst that negated all energy in the target including heat. imagine frozen hydrolics, luke warm reactor, fizzz pip cannons and cigarette lighter's for thrusters. could be very useful in smash and grab type missions for special ops where casualties would be bad.

Well, Actually, it's zero when in shadows, if you're on the side that faces a sun it's actually boiling hot...
I don't have the actual numbers but I think it's as close to absolute zero you can get in shade. Should be able to find them somewhere online, try www.nasa.gov? ("http://www.nasa.gov?")

About -270 C to be exact. About 3 Kelvin, 3 K/C above absolute zero (0 K, -273,15 C).

Ahh!
It works, you just have to set the length to about 5.0 and the intensity down to like, 50.
I created a flak-emp gun, rate of fire's too high still and the range isn't good enough to stop bombers so far.
But it's terrible! Good god, flak if it doesn't fire alot will often get a couple hits, and dogfighting's impossible.
In other words, great for our side, bad when it hits you!

Good God. Flak is annoying enough as it is...
Why not use it on a regular laser turret instead? Just increase the velocty a bit, or it'll never hit anything...

I've never had so much trouble blowing up a d*mn leviathan before!
(gave it two aaaf's, the standard bgreen or whatever, and the rest was emp flak.
Gave it a range of 1500 meters/km/whatever.
Definitely has to be trebbed to death, or at least till unarmed.
Not to mention my custom AAA is really annoying. Has twice the 'impact' of normal aaa, fires 8 shots (really short ones though, unless it's at a bigger ship) And flickers red/white/blue.
Not only are you getting blown around by the AAA, you can't get keep track of which end is up!

I'd like to see an E-Bomb like the design that was featured in Popular Mechanics this month. High shield and subsystem damage, and a small shockwave, but is very big and bulky, takes up double the magazine space of a helios.
Electronic Warfare is fun!

No, That's not evil, an EMP AAA Beam!
Keep the damage down, but give it alot of impact and a high emp setting.
Not only are you hit, knocked around, but god only knows what you're targeting!
