Title: Starfighter's VP available
Post by: jonskowitz on August 31, 2001, 04:17:00 pm
I just got the VP up for the Starfighter mod.  I don't think it's working quite right however.

One bug that I know about is that none of the weapons are available until you go into FRED's campaign editor and set all the weapons available at the start of the campaign and save it under any bogus name you want.

Any way, for the two or three people who are interested its at...

Sorry, I still don't have a FS2 version.  Too busy trying to get all the models made, missions written, campaigns done, etc...

PS- I tried to build a demo campaign for it but couldn't get FRED's campaign editor to work and the FRED doc is lacking on the subject.  Anyone know where I can find a tutorial on campaign building?

*bump*
Umm...
Feedback anyone, I know SOMEBODY downloaded the thing (my 'hit' counter doesn't read '26' for nothing)...

Is this game worth pursuing or am I just deluding myself?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)

I'm not sure I understand?  Do you mean 'what is the game setting about?' or 'what is the file?'

The file itself is a WINZIP (*.ZIP) file that you need to extract using the WINZIP utility...  If you need it, WINZIP 8.0 is available at http://www.winzip.com ("http://www.winzip.com")
Once youi've un-ZIPped it, place the *.VP file in your FREESPACE directory (NOT FREESPACE/DATA, repeat; it will not work if you place the .vp in your DATA folder.  It also will not work if you have any MODded files in your DATA directories (esp tables)) and read the README and ABOUT THIS TC text files.  A quick note about the README; it predates the existance of the *.vp file so some of its information may be incorrect (any references to any DATA folder should be taken to mean the *.vp itself).

Ohhh yeah... one last thing, there have been two versions of the *.VP file made, 011 and 012.  Do not use 012, it's broken.  if you have the 012 file (betaFS2SF012.vp) delete it and get the 011 file.  when the 2nd build was made the VPCS had a brainfart and placed critical components of the mod in a BS folder called 'blank' (why is anybody's guess).  If you have 012 and need 011 I've already deleted 012 from my homepage and stuck 011 back in its place.

Hope I answered your question.
