If anyone has some blank UV Maps (ie. the ones something like Lithunwrap spits out) and pof format models, could you please give me a link to download them from? I want to practice texturing fighters and suchlike, and trying to retexture V ones is difficult, as a lot of the edges are kind of loosley defined.
Note, the final maps I turn out almost certainly won't be of even a quarter of what is deemed an acceptable level - at least not until I've had more practice anyway, so I'm not offering myself as a fighter texturer - not yet at least... :D
So if you can help, please give me some links.

Since it sounds like you are interested in making new textures and seeing how they are applied, rather than doing the actual UVing as such, I'd recommend getting some of Aldo's old fighters to start with (available in the Reciprocity forums, methinks). His method back then involved using a map for each side of the fighter (i.e. top, left, right, bottom, front, back), which made it easy to learn the basics of (re)skinning and how the UV is applied to the model. One need only erase the original data and create new stuff in it's place.
Once you've got the hang of them, try something that uses a single map for the whole fighter.

Well, I'd hoped to avoid multiple map models - I really dislike doing them that way. I've had one I was supposed to be doing for NTV with 6 or 7 different maps, and I just couldn't handle it. I prefer everything to be in the one file, where I can reference all my changes at once.

I'll probably have something along thos elines done in a few weeks time - I'm just waiting on Sesq for the interface, an i can bung a blank map together with it.

You could follow IPAndrew's UV Mapping tutorial using the Cobra Mk3 as a base - it's simple, and you can play around with it.

LOD0 of a discarded model.... in 3ds or obj format, with a 16 colour template map. i'm assuming you'll be using something like 3dex to view it... (version 1.5.3 of which is on the Reciprocity downloads page)

If you're just wanting to try texturing a model, you can experiment with my Dagger model. http://members.aol.com/lowark/FS2/Dagger.zip
That version isn't stable enough for use in FS2, but for texturing it's alright. (Eventually I'm going to make a finished version of it, but trying to texture a fighter using (http://members.aol.com/lowark/FS2/Smilies/v.gif) textures isn't easy. :)

The links are good, but until they get returned natively to the board, my protest will continue :D.
