Title: pof editing
Post by: Raven2001 on November 17, 2002, 10:29:20 am
Heya people!!! Listen, once again I need your help...

I need someone who can convert some models for FS2 and make .pof editing... Come on, I really need your support. The campaign Demo is almost finished, but it won't be if I don't get a .pof editor soon...

Thanks in advance :)

I'm guessing either Reprocity or OTT.

Just what are you asking for, Raven2001?
What is it that you need?

For the record, i came:
>texture an EXISTING model
>edit gunpoints, missile points, subsystems, thursterpoins
>(at a pinch) edit shield vertexes, maybe docking, but don't hold me to that.......
>tbl stuff (weapon loadout mainly)

There is a chance that I MAY be capable of converting a cob to a pof, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Use LithUnwrap for converting. Open the file, save it as a cob, and then save it as a .pof using cob2pof.
Lithunwrap can even open .pof files directly!

eh? were is he coming from?  I though this thread was editing stuff on a .pof file AFTER it has been converted to work in FS2?

Or am I misreading something here?:doubt:

No offence, UT

As far as I could gather it was both converting to .pof AND adding the extra stuff but it is rather vague :)

LithUnwrap doesn't do cob hierarchy right. It also doesn't let you adjust the axis of submodels AFAIK. To convert a model file to a POF you really need some version of TrueSpace, (Win9x designed versions are best) PCS or Cob2FS2, and you need to do the hierarchy in TS before converting the cob to a pof.

Sorry for the misunderstanding of the post... I wrothe it in a rush...

Anyways, it is for my campaign Caught in the Middle, and I need:
- Pof editer (that can convert me a .cob file to .pof and then make all the .pof editing stuff...)

Anyone can help??

As I said, I really need that kind of staffer, or the Demo, and of course the campaign too, will never be released :(

Well then, If you like, I can have go at doing all that POF. editing stuff you want.

Just send the unedited pof file, with a list of what you want done, to my email address in my profile.

I COULD attempt to convert those Cob's to Pof's, but make sure you have a backup person, Raven2001, because I can't promise that I can........

Say, Raptor, I have a few models that i tested in FS2 and they work... On a few on them the textures suck, and I was thinking if you could help me with that!

b.t.w. - I can do the whole .pof editing, converting, modeling, and some other stuff.

Just send them to [email protected]

Just tell me what you want done and I'll hit them! Textures, gun points, turret fire points, subsystems, engine glows and even  shield vertexes!!!!

EDIT: MUST PROOF READ BEFORE POSTING!

I can do those too........as long as I have the original cob........and mine are usually spherical, like Star Wars/Star Trek shield systems.

Shields (aside from hull conforming shields like the FS1Port's Lucifer) aren't hard to do. I've added them to POFs without using cobs at all. :) Shields are the one thing Segeltuch is actually useful for. (As long as you work on a disposable copy of the model and use ModelView32 to import the shield data to the good copy.)

Yes, I did get it, and then sent it back via reply-to-sender.

I still have the pof and maps, so I could send it to you again

I am likely to have another go at texturing the model.  I recently downloaded lilithunwrap, so I may be able to remap it:nod:

HERETIC!!!!!!!!!!!:mad2: :wtf: :eek2:

Seriously, I used to use Segeltuch for that, but once I learned how to do virtually everything in TS, I dumped Segeltuch.

BTW, I'm getting both Lightwave and 3DS Max soon. :)

I only used it to add shields to already POFed ships, like the Robotech MOD's VF-1's and, as an experiment, an ARMD carrier. :)

Ok, I'll send it to you again, using the email provided in your profile.

Not just yet though.  Bit busy at the moment (midday in a hectic university day, another 4 hours to go!)

Hopefully this one will get to you.  If not:confused:
